Anyone on here actually know if JG would have come here for 10 million?
Could be he didn’t want to be an Islander period. Anyone really truly know at this point? |

At least Lou didn’t put us in a crappy cap situation in a few years. Now maybe he can get miller or Taresenko. - Isleshockeyman
I’m not going to play the Lou did us a favor card by saving us 800 grand a season. You’re alone on that one. |

I’m saying if he would have been at something like $10.2 or higher. Something like that. |

If this is over 800 grand aav it makes it so bad it’s actually funny. - Cptmjl
It would have been nice to have him now, not gonna lie. He’s a small guy who’s already 29. This is a tough division. Guys like him get smashed. This isn’t the open ice Western Conference. In all honesty, if we can somehow pull this Miller trade off, that excites me more. Same age. 6-2, 220. Has played in the conference and the division before. Would be the perfect winger with 13 and 27. I don’t know…I’m gonna let this play out before I lose my poop. |

All I know is that money wasn’t the main motivator. If it were, he’d have taken the deal Calgary offered. |

I don’t know once you get to 9 does it really matter? You find a way to make it work. He signed for 9.8 with the jackets. Not exactly a prime destination for FA’s and he’s still hoppin on a plane to see his family. Have to sell the team to free agents. |

Should have also mentioned, you can prob sign Miller for less money and for less years. |

This comment is about a decade late. Also, we’re giving up assets for Miller and the price just went up a whole helluva lot. |

Of course Schwein. But he should have listened to Twitter as far as where to go in the end. |

I like Miller. Not saying JG wouldn’t have been nice but we have a dangler in Assistant GM Barzal so Miller may even be a better fit.
Take Barzy out of C1 and throw him in the wing and open his game up as far as creating.

Miller doesn’t have Gaudreau’s track record. I don’t see why 5/7.5 wouldn’t work.
The Metro is the most physical division in hockey. I don’t see how that can be argued. |

Really? The Rangers who minus Trouba and Reaves whenever they let him play won the division and they are about as far from a physical team as you can get. What team would you classify as physical in the metro?
Edit; are we really saying Gaudreau wouldn’t have made it in the metro division because it’s to physical for him? |

I forgot that Boston is not in our division but I would consider Pitt, Wash, us and the Rags as physical teams. |

Cpts edit: go back and read the posts. By year 4, when he’s 33, this contract is gonna be iffy for sure. And, yes, physicality plays a role. I already said I would have liked to have him but that term is loooong. I’d rather find a guy in his mid-20s to give a long contract to. And, not JT Miller either.
I would give Laine that money and term in a heartbeat. |
