Yeah, Richard Patrick, their singer, lived in the area during that period. It was definitely a moment |

if I run into Ledecky again you can bet I'll ask him what happened. I'll do my best not to get Lou in trouble.

Just as Jimmy pointed out there’s still time to make something happen. My only gripe is overpaying for half the player we missed out on today or overpaying for someone else and further mortgaging our future. I’m not exactly bullish on us being as close to cup contenders as some on here are evidently so I’m not exactly sold on trading next years first or what little prospects we have. I think Gaudreau gave us the best chance to be right there without giving anything up minus a couple of players that it was time to move on from to begin with. Who knows maybe Lameriello will do something nobody expected and we’ll be the better for it but right now I’m more concerned about what he might do and give up in the process then anything else. |

That place was wild. Met Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson once and partied with Korn in ‘95. Place is a hipster, wanna-be clothing store now. At least last time I was in that area. |

It was then I think it turned at least partially into a fancy pizzeria after the clothing stores I believe recently. I think I saw that somewhere in Time Out or something? Had some wild times there around the same time you were there. |

I believe that was short lived.

I’m sure every generation says this, but what a time to be young and stupid, the 90s. Great music, you can’t dispute that at all. |

Rather that than that stupid store, for sure. It was like what they did to CBGBs. Just like, insult to injury. |

We missed out. Guy had an 115 point season. I don’t think it’s some NY Post/Ranger conspiracy to bash the Islanders. This is a pretty accurate yet pointing out the obvious part of the article;
“ Columbus general manager Jarmo Kekalainen convinced him to sign in a small market that requires an airplane trip to reach south Jersey.”
Thems the facts. - Cptmjl
I have no idea of it contributed, but these days I rarely see Gaudreau without facial hair, the guy looks 12.
Lamierello’s no facial hair policy is silliness, Palmieri needs a beard desperately. You can’t tell grown men not to have facial hair.

Taxes are not an issue for the Rangers. Doubt Trotz's firing had any bearing at all. - ses111
All this crap about taxes being a factor. It is Bull Sh!t !!! You are a 100% correct in that the Rags do not have issues signing UFAs. Big ones at that. Disappointing that this organization no matter who is running the ship cannot land the big fish.

I see the Devils backup plan was Palat. What's Lou's? A warm glass of milk and a long nap? |

If i can find it I will post here:: there was an article a little while ago quoting a few sports agents who said they typically advise their clients against NY and CA dur to taxes. It's a thing but it ultimately comes down to personal preference. |

I like palat I think he would be a good add. Guy is exactly who you want come playoff time. If we weren’t so desperate for pure offense and needed a middle six fwd I would be all about him but that reported contract is pretty putrid. That’s exactly what I hope Lameriello doesn’t do. |

All kidding aside I’m sure there are plenty of players around the league that don’t want to play under Lameriello’s thumb. Its not a big secret the guy is a micromanager. I’m not saying that’s the case with Gaudreau. We’ll probably never know, but I for one would go somewhere I would get my balls broken the least |

If the Rangers missed out as much as the Islanders then I would buy the taxes reason. It's very strange the two long playoff runs and now a new building do not seem to help in terms of free agency. |

I’m sure it’s a factor to some extent. With that said the reaching for excuses every time we strike out on a FA is about as predictable an event as you can find. Soon the tax theory will be 100% fact on here for a few people on here |

I said it last night and I’ll say it again…sad truth is we play in the Rangers shadow, just like the Devils too. I think we underestimate how much of a factor that is for players. All these guys have egos, don’t care if you’re the biggest “team” guy on the roster or the most selfish bastard on the roster…would you rather run Midtown Manhattan or Elmont or Newark?
It’s honestly the only thing I can think of. Maybe the Lou factor is real. We go another year without making the playoffs though, and I bet dollars to doughnuts, Lou’s a goner. Then we’ll see what the narrative is when Barzal doesn’t sign here or another big UFA snubs us. Big reason I see a trade coming up, even, maybe today. Lou wants to save his job and no one wants to sign here. |

Perhaps a contributing factor for JG is the defensive system Trotz ran out. We don't know what Lambert is going to do, but guessing it'll be more of a defense-first. I don't see him going run-and-gun. |

Then (in retrospect) the obvious solution is to start targeting RFAs from rebuilding markets, and stop hoping for the 30 year old freebies.
Case in point, Timo Meier. 2015 draft, loves to shoot and is a dynamic player/skater.
Getting him is gonna cost a bunch. But if the organization is in win now mode, then you suck it up and do it.
I’d much rather this than hoping for an amicable UFA, or using those very same assests at the deadline for a rental. |

Then it's the same style as Barry. Barry was defense first.
