This is without Chara and Greene - eichiefs9
feel free to check my math. They kept one or both of those to get to their Fuzzy Math numbers. |

They used their "projected 20 man roster" not all 22 guys listed on their site. If you leave out Bellows and Johnston their number is correct. |

I agree, but if he doesn't want to be there then there's not much they can do about it.
It sure as hell appears as if he wants to play in St. Louis. He may just get awarded his salary through arbitration and then leave as a UFA next summer.
Without a commitment from Tkachuk they are majorly rolling the dice that he'll sign as UFA approaches. And losing two stars in two consecutive offseasons without getting so much as a single draft pick for either of them is a pretty quick way to lose your job too - eichiefs9
No way the Flames can risk losing Tkachuk for nothing.

Yup this Lou we’re talking about. He doesn’t have the gonads to pull a trade like that off even if Calgary entertained a deal with us |

How true, but what if? What would Calgary want from Lou?
Anything to change the Islanders line up right now would take a 3 for 3 trade with someone that also just wants to shake it up. I’m sure that’s not the answer or maybe Lou waits till trade dead line when we are fighting for 3rd in the division?

I mean...I honestly don't think the Isles can afford to pay what it'd even cost to get him. Not with all the competition they'd have around the league.
Not only that, but they'd have to clear enough cap space to accommodate extensions for Tkachuk AND Barzal and make sure there's enough left over to cover Sorokin the following year. And a backup goaltender. The amount of moving parts there would be to facilitate that deal and not handicap the team going forward would be massive.
I mean I'm just shooting from the hip here, but I have to imagine a package that would even keep Calgary on the phone would have to start with something like a 2023 1st, Beauvillier, Raty, Salo and maybe another high pick or something.
Then we'd, at the bare minimum, have to move out Bailey for the last year of his deal. They might also have to find a way to (at some point) move Pageau, who now has a 16-team no-trade list as of the 1st of this month. Or maybe Palmieri the summer after next, but that'd be a much more difficult deal to make work.
I don't even know if that'd be enough money to cover Tkachuk/Barzal/Sorokin over the following two offseasons |

Fair point. However, I just don't think that Calgary was so bad last season that they would be looking to do a complete rebuild. Even if they have to do a partial rebuild, Tkachuk is young enough that he's the kind of player that you want to build around. So you do what you have to do to lock him up long-term. - JohnScammo
It’s HEAVILY rumoured that he just doesn’t wanna play in Calgary. Much like Gaudreau. So signing him to term may simply not be possible.
He's almost certainly getting moved to an American team. |

Fair. I need to ask Schwein why anyone would want to leave Calgary. - JohnScammo
Because it’s the urban epitome of the poophole of an bumhole. |

A deal for Tkachuk just does not seem possible. Very difficult to make the impact trades and makes losing out on UFA's that much tougher.

Don’t want him anyway.
Give me Meier, or give me… (what’s worse than death…🤔) Calgary. |

Meier is a great option, that would be hard to put together.
Maybe Niederriter if affordable? He has great net front presents.

If Nino would be willing to come back, then yeah. I’m down.
But I’d still offer the moon for Meier. |

I would love Meier as well but we all know its not gonna happen. Lou loves this group I was told by the experts. Don't expect the roster to change for the next year at least. I mean Lou missed out on JG who didn't want to come here. This season is over.

Nino to me would be something relatively the same as what we already have maybe a touch better…. More like a lateral move imo because we’d have to shed salary for him and the easiest target for that would be Beau. I would bet more on Beau rebounding more then I would acquiring nino. |

Unless the market for Kadri is shrinking and we can get him at a fair price...I'd just leave things, more or less, the way they are for now.
Maybe they can find a way to add another d-man or can sign someone like Milano or Sam Steel on the cheap...but other than that I don't see a lot still out there that makes sense. |
