Lou is an all time great GM but he has had trouble with landing quality UFA's. Neil signing Sillinger, Witt, and Poti in 30 days on the job has been better than most UFA's signed in years by the Islanders. Lou has got to relax some of the rules. Right or wrong it's 2022 and players are different. - ses111
Lou is flawless and this team is impeccable. Do not second guess the almighty Lou. The gestapo will be knocking on your door soon. |

If he trades for Tkachuk you’ll be slobbing his knob |

He grates on them no doubt. But me thinks it has more to do with the Saddledome’s condition, Americans wanting to live in America, and the city of Calgary itself. |

He's an excellent puck mover. Not huge point producer but he moves the puck up the ice better than most defensemen. $5M is a very fair price for him.
If they could dump Bailey on the Ducks or somewhere similar...that's an even money swap. - eichiefs9
Thought I saw somewhere they were done with trying to sign Kadri and because of this he’s off the table. |

He’s one of those coaches that have a short shelf life.
I mean the Saddledome is definitely dated but the city is great and Tkachuck being American could be paid as JT in Toronto with Bonus money and keep a nice Chuck of it.
Maybe the combo of JG leaving and Sutter could sour his taste. Don’t know his family situation and maybe like JG his wife/girlfriend wants to go back to the States.
But man losing your two best players in one off season is tough especially when one left for nothing in return. |

I have no doubt he’s trying to make something happen. I’m just not sure if he’ll be successful. |

Nor am I.
But hey, the Romanov deal came out of nowhere, so here’s hoping lightning strikes twice. 🤞 |

Pretty certain he’s working on something too. His style is just not conducive to my personality. I’m like Veruca Salt, “I want a Matthew Tkachuk now!!” Very impatient. |

If this is all true...Then why would anyone be upset we did not get Johnny hockey??? Because based on this we could not afford him... - Nfdbulldawg
Because we didn't also have to trade for Gaudreau |

It's certainly possible. I'm sure Sakic doesn't want to have to eat a bad return for Girard and pay market-price for Kadri. I'm willing to bet they had an internal best-and-final offer for Kadri and if they couldn't get him to sign at or below that then they'd move on. |

At the end of the day, if Lou cannot get it done and the Isles struggle out of the gate, I can definitely see the chants returning: "SNOW, err, LOU MUST GO!"
I mean, it will probably be tough to hear it on the telecast as there will only be 7k people in the building, but one of them will be Ledecky, so he will get the message.

Whatever direction or lack there of won’t shock me. I can see him doing nothing or something huge. Who knows? |

Same here. Seen too much over the years. Nothing shocks me anymore. My Isles fan friends all think Lou will do absolutely nothing. That he will give us the same, "I believe in this roster" speech. Part of me agrees, however, I still think he HAS to do something to upgrade the offense before the season. They missed the playoffs by a healthy margin, fired Barry Trotz, and traded the 13th overall pick for a dman, not a scorer. With a new building and owners that want a return to the playoffs, how could you NOT upgrade the O of a team that struggled MIGHTILY to score? |

He may not be able to make the move he wants for whatever reason(there are many) and stay put. Hope for the best as far as the teams performance before the TDL and decide what to do from there. |

Because they somewhat painted themselves into a corner as far as the cap goes. If not for that, I have no doubt they would have been significantly more competitive in trying to land Gaudreau |
