I mean NYI vs The Devils. Currently for the reasons you mentioned the decision as far as hockey and organizations are concerned isn’t close.

He's gonna get life changing money wherever he lands. But, he's got a way better shot at winning on the island than the growing pains in NJ.

Gudreau played NCAA in Boston, which is Lou Lams stomping grounds......and Im sure being from NJ, he was on the radar for the former Devils GM.

Would be bad if the Isles lose out on JG after losing out on Panarin when the Isles were better than the Rangers at the time and are better than the Devils now.

Rumor was that Panarins wife wanted Manhattan. Either way, after Tavares walked, they never replaced that 10 million dollar guy. They missed on Panarin, but its an admission that you need that type of talent. I think this screams Gudreau to the island.

Agreed KR. I just don’t know if there are any personal reasons he would pick NJ over Long Island.

What would be bad is if Pat Kane re united with Panarin. That would suck

Lou Lam enters the room...

Not that Parise is the same player, but when would he have ever sniffed signing on the island? Lou Lamoriello is very respected in this league

He's from NJ........but, he could easily get a place in manhattan and be equidistant from his hometown and UBS

Losing out to the Rangers is one thing but losing out to the Devils is a whole other thing.

I guess anything can happen, but I just dont see a fit in NJ for him. I do however see him as a perfect fit on the island, with better goaltending, and a better shot at winning.

It helped the Isles were coming off two long playoff runs. Zac's dad JP also played for the Islanders. No idea if that factored in at all?

It didnt when he opted for the Wild over the Islanders. The bottom line is Lou Lamoriello. He's already brought guys here who would never have sniffed this organization. Being a star hockey kid growing up in NJ, and playing college hockey in Boston.....he's gotta have ties to Lamoriello

Nothing makes sense in terms of Free Agency and the Isles have not had luck thus far in signing the big FA. Hopefully that changes. One thing is for sure the lousy building can no longer be used as a reason for missing on players.

I always liked JP and Zac. I'm glad the Islanders brought him in last year. I hope Wally can learn a lot from Zac.

The isles in the past have had ZERO luck and missed on EVERY UFA. Thats changed, and again, while Parise and Chara are past their prime, they still chose the island.
If nothing else, kudos to Gudreau for being a man, and telling his organization no thanks, rather than string them along and walk at the 25th hour.

Everyone remember Lou is very quiet when he is dealing or trading. We have heard hardly any rumors so that is a good sign and again something will be done

Still surprising Malkin would not want to try to be the guy on another team and especially with the Pens lack of playoff success lately. Many players seem to re-sign with their teams though.

Still really tough for the Flames losing JG for nothing. Sadly we know what that is like. Have to think Flames trade him if they were not a playoff team.
