Do you ever stop with the Cap... EVERY TEAM has to deal with the CAP. The islanders have more cap room than 75% of other teams right now.. they have NO ONE With a cap hit of more than $7 million... What Corner are u talking about?
https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/islanders - niteislander
They also have to sign Barzal and Dobson. Do you ever think ahead when it comes to the cap or is it we have 7 million right now so all good? My god. |

You think JG and Tkachuck might have left Calgary Because of the high taxes? His list doesn’t include NY and Ca. Interesting? - nyisles7
Yeah but the article DID say that NJ and the Rags showed interest. I think St. Louis is the front-runner.
A very quick search of Missouri income tax rates shows 5.4%. |

I can’t believe we’re talking about taxes again. Let’s bring the new arena excuse back |

Dobson and Bellows are RFA's right now. Wahlstrom and Barzal are RFA's after the 22-23 season. Mayfield is a UFA after next season. |

I know and I agree. You can't just blow the budget and throw money at a player without thinking about who needs to get paid next year. Otherwise you end up in cap hell and are forced to trade away players to be compliant. You're trading from a position of weakness then. |

We’re having this conversation like Lameriello isn’t going to be trying to lock up Barzal in season. It’s just not realistic kind of like how niteislander looks at the cap. |

No Lou just sucks ass and missed on JG when he really wanted to come here.
That said My point is if you’re not aware of your cap (especially when it’s not increasing as it hasn’t and won’t significantly for the next 3 years) you will have to eat salary, trade assets or give away players to become Cap compliant.
Again because of the cap freeze and debt of the NHLPA the cap is more of a factor because there’s no relief with a considerable increase in the next few years. - nyisles7
Any proof of that? Gaudreau has done a few interviews and never mentioned NYI as a real landing spot. He actually said that he was all but ready to sign in NJ before CBJ came about at 4 pm on that day. |

I like fighting in the game but I don’t see the need for more then one legit face puncher on the team. - Cptmjl
I agree plus Martin doesn’t scare anybody anymore. I hope the boss takes his spot on the 4th line |

Always liked Martin. Guy loves being an Islander. Incredibly good person but yeah I agree. Hoping we see something different this season but I’m not expecting too. |

Kadri would not be my first choice. Rather have Miller. |

I thought clutterbuck was probably the most effective of the three last season but yeah. If they’re so enamored with Johnston they should let him play a regular role. |

Kadri is “free”. If there’s a path to signing him to a somewhat reasonable contract fine but I don’t believe there is. |

Exactly! Reasonable is not likely.

He’ll be looking for a 7 year contract which will take him until he’s 38. With the kind of game he plays that’s not going to end well. |
