The 4th line should be as cheap as possible. Isles should have players from Bridge that can take over the 4th line by now. The 4th line had their run and they have a lot of millage because the style they play. We need to keep them together forever? The more you spend on the 4th line the less you have to spend on the top 6. - ses111
You have any idea how many teams go with this method and find themselves out of the playoffs in the first round? why do you think all these 3rd and 4th line players from Tampa are making so much going to other teams. Teams are starting to figure out that having 1 or 2 lines doesn't work.. (Pens, Leafs, Oilers).. you need to be able to have 4 lines and your 4th line has to be able to play a lot of minutes.
We went to the ECF twice b/c our 4th line was that good. in huge games with a lead they were out there every other shift... locking it down. Getting the puck deep, cycling, clogging up the neutral zone, etc.

I believe you and I may have different definitions for what constitutes a two way player I say this thinking cal played ok last season. I just don’t see him as a 1.75 million player for a team that needs space. If your answer is, “well he wouldn’t have signed with us” I say so be it. - Cptmjl
I would agree with u but then we would both be wrong... 1.75 million for a guy who kills penalties ,hits and plays over 12 minutes a game is certainly not a bank breaker. At 3.5 mill he was a little over paid... at 1.75 he is a bargain.
didn't you often complain about Mayfield's contract when we signed him too?

No I didn’t but are we saying down the road 1.75 million is going to be a bargain like mayfield? |

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on a second there, buddy. Don't go lumping me into the whole tax argument. I bolded the very quick part to emphasize that it was just that. a very quick search. Meaning that if someone else dove deeper into it (or was an accountant) and came up with different or more accurate information, then fine. It was more replying to someone that said they didn't know what the Missouri tax rate was. I am in no way saying that paying state tax is better than paying no tax. - Isleshockeyman
Well you responded to a post from Cpt Blowhard laughing or rejecting the tax side of players making decisions.
Just wanted you to see there is a huge difference on what you keep.
Trust me these players have agents and financial planners that get paid based on their contracts and what they make.
So I guess you agree taxes and how much a player has to pay or not pay makes a difference? |

Never rejected the tax reasons that factor into a players decisions. Never not once. I said it’s never one thing there are always multiple factors. Said players don’t seem to mind the taxes playing for the Rangers but what the hell do I know? Also said I just didn’t want to spend five pages talking about taxes because it’s (frank)ing boring. But hey let’s just rewrite history to create another bullshat narrative because someone is so (frank)ing stupid they can’t even write a coherent sentence 90% of the time. Dumb people and little girls resort to making stuff up. Which one is he? |

Just to make sure I did make shat up:

Haha
I've been telling people this for ages now. Since the early 2000s. Look, if you are going to get a $10m contract and face over 9%in state taxes as well with being taxed on 41 extra games, then face the fed taxes as well, that $10mm can suddenly turn into like $5m. Meanwhile in Ohio it may be more like $7mm. I think for more than a few, that's a serious factor
- keaner17
Yeah sure but if that were the case why don’t they all go to Dallas or Florida? I’m sure there were a lot of factors that went into his decision but I don’t think this was a major one.

I imagine there's a few things in play here. I will say it over and over but taxes are a factor. Gaudreau looked at possibly losing up to 20% in state taxes alone with NY.
I'm not sure how players look at the org after Trotz's firing but I can't imagine CBJ would be a better fit for winning, so my guess is it was all about the $$$

This is a new one. The usual NY Islander free agency clean up thread

I said it last night and I’ll say it again…sad truth is we play in the Rangers shadow, just like the Devils too. I think we underestimate how much of a factor that is for players. All these guys have egos, don’t care if you’re the biggest “team” guy on the roster or the most selfish bastard on the roster…would you rather run Midtown Manhattan or Elmont or Newark?
It’s honestly the only thing I can think of. Maybe the Lou factor is real. We go another year without making the playoffs though, and I bet dollars to doughnuts, Lou’s a goner. Then we’ll see what the narrative is when Barzal doesn’t sign here or another big UFA snubs us. Big reason I see a trade coming up, even, maybe today. Lou wants to save his job and no one wants to sign here.

I’ll take a break from ignoring you because you’re so (frank)ing stupid you don’t even realize you just reiterated what I just said with my own posts you (frank)ing moron. Can’t make this shat up my god
Me saying cuz taxes mean I said it’s not a factor? Why don’t you post my other posts where I say exactly that you half wit. You won’t because you’re a chromosome deficient moron who does nothing but yaps horse crap all day on here. Miserable garbage human. Where did I say it was not a factor? I said it’s not THE factor and I said it’s one of many parts of a players decision. Didn’t want to throw those posts up there did you moron? They’re on that same page go ahead post them.. You won’t.
That would’ve ruined your bullshat narrative right? Like all of your other bullshat narratives. That’s all you got you miserable dumb arse. |

Guy is (frank)ing shot. Loser stays on a thread where two of 20-25 people can even stomach him. Just comes on here and spreads misery and yaps about horse shat. Makes stuff up then comes back and starts over again the next day. It’s incredible. How unhappy in your own life do you have to be to do that? |

You calling me Cpt. Speedo is enough. There’s no need for me to say anything. You do it to yourself but you know that. Even you have to have figured that out by now. Probably not in all honesty. That’s why your life sucks and you’re on a hockey page where nobody likes you. |
