I get it and I’m not judging Lou for losing Ebs, my gripes are not replacing the lost assets, I.E Tavares, Leddy and Ebs. - kindlyrick

I just went back and looked and starting in 2006 with Okposo, no pick 1st round in 2007, then Bailey, Taveras, Neidereitter, Strome, Reinhart, Pulock, DalColle, Barzal/Beau, Bellows, R Salo.
Aside from Reinhart, which ultimately landed us Barzal and DalColle, the majority of his picks are pretty good NHL players.
Not arguing anything, just my thoughts. - streaks
Of course. Even Snow could find some "pretty good" players with all those chances. But how many of those guys are legit top 6 forwards which I think was the question? Tavares, obviously. Barzal, yes. Maybe Niederreiter? Reinhart was a total bust, except that Snow was able to pull off a swindle of a trade that got us Barzal and Beau (not DalColle--a bust of a top 5 pick in an earlier draft). Pulock is an excellent d-man--he was picked #15 overall, I believe. Strome was a top 5 pick who was good his first season on the Islanders, then disappeared until he was traded.
Edit: I beat your edit. I doubt that Lou needed Snow's help to find Wahlstrom or Dobson in that draft. I think Snow's main job was to fetch Lou's coffee. |

I hear ya. I would say most are top 6 players, a few top 9, however, none are elite game changers. Which is what we truly need. Maybe Dobson and Barzal or Wally in the right system, but the jury is still out.
Who knows what happened in the 2018 draft when Lou arrived but I thought he had mentioned relying on Snow and the scouts in place to help guide decisions. Could be wrong.
And just to be clear, I’m not advocating for snow. I just don’t think his drafting was horrible - it was the inferiority complex of not hiring a legit coach. |

Agreed. The jury is still out on Wally. It's pretty obvious that he spent a lot of time in Barry's doghouse. It will be interesting to see how he does under a different coach. |

Perhaps but no one is gonna say Devon Toews had a terrible playoffs his first year with the Avs. He’s gonna be remembered as a cup winner - kindlyrick
His partner Makar is one of the best defenseman I have seen come up ready to play in a long long time. That certainly helped Toews game for sure. Kid reminds me of Orr And I didn’t think I would ever say that.
I think Toews was one of the TO leaders in the POs. All that said yes he one a cup and that you can’t take away from him. |

No, I think you're right. Pretty sure you pay the taxes based on where you and your employer are located, not on who signs you to the contract. - JohnScammo
Yeah I thought so JS but wasn’t 100% sure. Thx. |

Just to be clear, I believe things get complicated for pro athletes with "away" games. Glad I'm not an accountant. |

Yes they do which complicates matters but some states collect it some don’t.
This makes non income tax states even better imho.

It would seem the Red Wings are having trouble coming to terms with Tyler Bertuzzi. What are the thoughts on this kid? |

Have the isles announced their RFA signings? I feel like some were but others weren’t.
Also anyone else sick of seeing Jim Carey’s face? Thanks Vukota. |

Honestly Nfd I wouldn’t put much On these web sites knowing Lou’s rules and regulations on dealing with him but I think if we get a surprise it will be him. Just my opinion. |

Was Tkachuk a sign and trade? I thought the Flames traded him and then Fl. And MT agreed to a 8 year deal. Of course Fl and MT were given permission from the Flames to discuss a contract prior. Or did he sign the deal with the Flames and then get traded? - nyisles7
I think I read somewhere that he was signed by Calgary before the trade. There was some reason why Florida wasn't able to give him 8 years but I can't remember what it was. |

I understand. I was just sharing the findings. If it were the case it is interesting and falls in line somewhat of what Lou does. Mind you, yes the leak is not Lou style. |

I believe the team that is getting the player would have to acquire him prior to FA to be able to sign him to an 8 yr deal. Otherwise it is a sign and trade I think. |
