lol... On this thread where all i heard from 99% of the "Islander's fans" on here forever is how Ranger's do everything right ... yeah.. Dolan certainly knows how to run a franchise. - niteislander
The Rangers do not do everything right and I doubt Islander fans on this site post they do everything right. A lot of the free agents they signed over the years have not worked out. The Rangers are aggressive though with trades and free agents and try to make things happen and they do not make excuses about taxes. I'm not a fan of the Rangers at all but I give them credit for making the decision to rebuild and to stick with it.

Maybe this coach will actually play him. - niteislander
Players have to take responsibly but the coaches have to do a better job as well in getting the most out of the young players. Islanders have had an issue over the years in reaching young offensive forwards.

LOU, put the full court press on PASTRNAK, Vegas is looking for cheap wings make a move. I’d rather dream about PASTRNAK then KADRI and sounds like TARASENKO isn’t moving especially after losing Perron.

If I give the Rangers credit for one thing, it's keeping up this aura of desirability despite very average results over the years. Frankly, I don't get it, but it can't be denied that they get to pick and choose from nearly anyone they want because everyone wants to go there for some reason. Hell, there have been players fairly recently who demanded to go only there.
That's a double-edged sword, I guess, because there's really no excuse for not winning all the time when almost all personnel decisions about who to sign or deal are the organization's alone to make...as in, they very rarely have to deal with players demanding to leave, refusing to report, or having them on lists of teams they don't want to go to. So, if you're not winning, who can you blame? Can't say, "No one wants to come here," or "This player wanted to leave and it created a hole." It's always all on management. |

Players obviously want to go there for the great tax benefits. |

It’s NYC…..the perception Manhattan has on the rest of the world is that it’s THE city. Whatever you or anyone else feels about it, it’s perceived as the capital of the world.

I do not get it either UIF. Players hear Rangers and MSG and it's like they are under
a spell. Manhattan is not all that great anymore either. What ever they are doing it works in terms of most players wanting to play for them. |

I guess. NY can be Thunderdome and players will still want to play for the Rangers.

Rich mid-twenties professional athletes want to live in NYC, simple as that. If you copy/pasted the Rangers organization into Winnipeg they'd have a much harder time attracting players. |

Maybe for some players but I think it has more to do with them always being a well run organization that takes care of its players. Also factor in the original six aura that I’m sure has some impact for some players but I think my first statement is what draws players there more then anything else. I have a couple of friends that have worked for the team and no matter what any of us think they’re a well oiled machine and have a reputation as such. That trickles down to the players perceptions of the team even outside of the organization. |

A lot of the ones without wives/kids do. I don't think a 24yo making $6M/yr is dying to live in Westchester |

Would be interesting to be a fly on the Wall when the Isles talk with JG and other top free agents to see the sales pitch given. Lou is an all time great GM but can he connect with these young players?

I think the number one factor above all else is MSG. NYC to us is no big deal, but anyone outside of New York thinks MSG is the worlds greatest stage. Young players are drawn to the city life with the nightlife, restaurants, A list celebs etc. I have zero doubt the Rangers are run like a well oiled machine but to me that’s just the icing on the cake. |

I agree….now. But, when I was 25-35, you couldn’t convince me otherwise |

I'm not disagreeing with your overall point, but I never wanted to live in the city. Working there was bad enough. |
