I'm not disagreeing with your overall point, but I never wanted to live in the city. Working there was bad enough.

I believe Howie Rose found time to do both jobs......i.e., Mets radio and Islanders play by play. So even if Burke gets the job, we may not lose him.

I think the number one factor above all else is MSG. NYC to us is no big deal, but anyone outside of New York thinks MSG is the worlds greatest stage. Young players are drawn to the city life with the nightlife, restaurants, A list celebs etc. I have zero doubt the Rangers are run like a well oiled machine but to me that’s just the icing on the cake.

Manhattan hasn’t been the nightlife, celebrity drawing apparatus it once was for years now. That’s moved to Brooklyn for the most part over the last decade especially so in the last five years. Players go there for multiple reasons I’m sure there’s some that have the thought that you’re mentioning but every player is an individual. I will say though more players want to go there because it’s an organization that has a reputation of being well run and treats their employees well.

That’s a draw for any employee for any business. With that said I’m getting pretty sick of this debate of why players go places. None of us have any idea. They’re all individuals with different needs and wants. There’s no one reason. It’s the GM’s job to sell the team to the player. If they can’t they’re not doing their job well. Period. Everything else is just an excuse imo.

Sell the player on what the organization is doing, where they’re going, and how they’ll be treated. Yes, if that doesn’t work threaten their lives and the lives of their family members.

A lot of the ones without wives/kids do. I don't think a 24yo making $6M/yr is dying to live in Westchester
- eichiefs9

100% correct. Once the guys get married and have kids they move up to Westchester.
