Yeah I’m certainly not saying that eklund actually hears that from a source and didn’t make it up himself just saying it’s at least a plausible thought.
- Cptmjl

EK probably heard some talking head on NHL radio/TV make some kind of off-the-cuff remark and decided to run with it.

now
For all we know Lou signed Johnny Gaudreau at noon today and they've both just decided to say nothing, take nice summer vacations, and then Johnny will just show up to camp for Islanders and that's when we'll know.

NEW TENDIE IN TOWN!

The Washington Capitals have signed goaltender Darcy Kuemper to a five-year, $26.25 million contract.

That's been pretty much the thought for the last couple of days.

I am sure of only one thing.. If we sign Gaudreau then all Isles fans and other teams fans will say we over payed him....

if we don't sign him we will all say Lou sux and failed miserably.

I feel it will be the latter.

Unfortunately.

There are always other circumstances when it comes to signing UFA’s BUT your GM can’t be the one always holding the bag when the music stops when there’s needs for the team. It stops mattering what the excuses are after a while.

I'd much rather sign Gaudreau. Tarasenko requires assets to acquire and then we'd have to give him a similar contract next year anyway. Unless we're just going to throw Beauvillier, etc... for one season of Tarasenko
- eichiefs9

Pros and cons to both imo. I'm not sure what the asking price for VT would be at this point. He's in the final year of an 8 year $7.5mm contract. I would trust Lou to keep that number down below what JG is about to command. I think his shoulder issues are a thing of the past at this point. Regardless, I find Gaudreaus size of almost equal concern at nearly $11mm.

Hey, I'll take either one and be happy to have them. I think Beau could be an odd man out regardless

Either Beau or Bailey with Beau most likely being the easier to move. Who knows maybe a couple teams get desperate to do something, anything, and we could unload one or both for peanuts?

The Dallas Stars have been looking for a top-six winger for a long time. They get him now in Mason Marchment on a 4-year deal

OK so apparently Marchment is going to Dallas instead of Carolina

If Lou could unload Bailey at a 5mm cap hit with still two years to go, he'd become Saint Lou
