We couldn’t have bought out Martin and upped it 800,000?
- Cptmjl

Then we'd just have created a hole on the fourth line that needed to be filled by another aging grinder that can't skate anymore

Well that leaves Kadri, who would hopefully cost a lot less if Gaudreau is only worth $9.8M AAV. Not thrilled with the idea of signing him until he's 39 though.

I'll continue to be patient but now our options are: pay a premium for Kadri or ship out valuable assets for someone like Tarasenko (and then have to pay a premium anyway)

Not the start anyone wanted to see this offseason

Nothing that we aren’t used too

31 coming off a career year he won’t be worth what he is gonna get. I’d pass unless he came cheap which isn’t happening
- Vukota

I’m really not crazy about Kadri. Rather have Miller if possible.

This guy isn’t that young. I’d rather break the bank on a guy between 23 and 27.

There have been rumors circulating about talks about Miller. Who knows if they are true.

We’re giving up a lot of assets for hoping he repeats last seasons performance.

Nothing to trade, cannot sign big FA’s and do not trust young forwards. That’s a heck of a combo.

Not sure how much of an appetite the Islanders had to go too far north of $9M AAV on a 7-year deal for Gaudreau... which leaves them sitting at the sweet table with an empty plate.

Pagnotta more or less says the same. If they lost out on Gaudreau over 800k....that's pathetic

- eichiefs9

It’s not $800k. It’s $5.6m.

If this is over 800 grand aav it makes it so bad it’s actually funny.

We should be all over the person from Columbus that sold that franchise to Gaudreau

At least Lou didn’t put us in a crappy cap situation in a few years. Now maybe he can get miller or Taresenko.
Knew we weren’t getting JG. Although I did start to think about it a little bit.

Guy is 100. Doubt he would make it past the 2nd year of his contract
