Cpts edit: go back and read the posts. By year 4, when he’s 33, this contract is gonna be iffy for sure. And, yes, physicality plays a role. I already said I would have liked to have him but that term is loooong. I’d rather find a guy in his mid-20s to give a long contract to. And, not JT Miller either.

I don’t know what that means but I added to the post, I would give Laine a blank check.

I would give Laine that money and term in a heartbeat.

I like Kadri but I don’t like the idea of overpaying him. I also like Miller but I don’t like the idea of overpaying to get him with assets, at this point, I don’t think we should be giving up.

The Panarin thing hurt more than this. He went to the Rangers. We were the favorites there (NJ was here). He would have been perfect for Barzal. We were coming off a great season.

I’ve never said I didn’t want Gaudreau, I’d be happy if he signed here obviously, just not gonna lose my poop over this. He’s obviously a great player but just for his age, his size and the length, I’m not wild about paying this guy $10mil a year for 7 years when you’re dealing with a salary cap.

I like Miller. Kadri I'm worried is a product of all of Colorado's talent.

But you would give Laine an open check book? I’m just trying to understand your reasoning here.

I think Kadri could bring some much needed sandpaper to our top 6 but I’m most likely not down with what he’ll cost.

I would sign him to the kind of contract JG just got. 24 years old. Big. LW. 40 goal scorer, 30 goals a few more times. Columbus has to make moves. Like Chiefs said, they could conceivably keep both, but they’re at the cap now.

I'm honestly not happy paying most of these salaries but Isles have very little choice. They have to do a much better job developing their own forwards in particular if they do not want to pay the UFA prices or pay the price in trades.

I agree about the sandpaper but Kadri can be a loose cannon. Going to be very interesting to see Lou's next move.

😂 Maybe I’m being a sunshiner, but I just don’t think this is the worst thing in the world. Might I be wrong? Of course, I’m wrong sometimes. But, just want to see what we’re lining up with come September before I go nuts.

We have a definite “attracting” free agents problem though. That’s the worst part imo. And, don’t see how we can fix that. Can it all be Lou? I don’t think so, the problem has existed for ever. Is it playing in the Rangers shadow? That’s a legitimate question, I’m sorry to admit.

Wouldn’t mind having a lose cannon on our team

Bottom line is he’s going to get paid and I’m reluctant to do it.

We have enough sandpaper. Not saying the sandpaper we already have has the the talent Kadri does but I don’t think that moves the needle here.

Another thing I don’t want to admit…trades might be the only way we get any big players here. Gotta extend 13 asap too.

Whatever the issue it has to be fixed. New building was suppose to help in signing quality UFA'S. Cannot blame the Rangers on losing out on JG. If Isles want to be big boys they need to get things done.

What do you think the issue is then? Why don’t they sign here? There is a legitimate issue here with UFAs.

The way things are going extending Barzal might not be an easy trick. If no quality forward is brought in, the plan better be to play Wally every night and he better not sit unless he is a train wreck.
