We would all love for it to happen but we all know, “I’m confident in this group” is coming.

Really hoping this isn't the case. Was just looking at our division and noticed we were 3-6-1 in our last ten games. I thought we had a strong second half ? I must have checked out with 20 or so games. SHould have checked out in January when we still had a shot and the team floundered.

Also notice how Rangers, Canes and Jackets all are arguable better than they were last year. Oh yeah, and we lost our top our coach. We really might have a shot at Bedard.

Hoping Lou has something going on but wouldn’t be shocked in any way if he didn’t. We will see… Or maybe we won’t.

All that club-elected arb does is take away the chance of an offer sheet. It's still arbitration and, unless they come together and hammer out a long-term extension, he'll only be awarded a one year deal and will be a UFA at the completion of next season.

The Flames cannot afford to lose Gaudreau and Tkachuk for zero return. If he won't commit to a contract then I would expect that they eventually ship him out for a massive return.

Fair point. However, I just don't think that Calgary was so bad last season that they would be looking to do a complete rebuild. Even if they have to do a partial rebuild, Tkachuk is young enough that he's the kind of player that you want to build around. So you do what you have to do to lock him up long-term.

I don’t think Calgary wants to do a full rebuild or trade Tkachuk but if he leaves they may HAVE TO do a rebuild. Losing two top players would be catastrophic for them.

Massive return like Beauvillier, Bailey, and a 4th?

I agree, but if he doesn't want to be there then there's not much they can do about it.

It sure as hell appears as if he wants to play in St. Louis. He may just get awarded his salary through arbitration and then leave as a UFA next summer.

Without a commitment from Tkachuk they are majorly rolling the dice that he'll sign as UFA approaches. And losing two stars in two consecutive offseasons without getting so much as a single draft pick for either of them is a pretty quick way to lose your job too

That's why Snow locked up Josh Bailey, so that he wouldn't lose more than one star.

this is true but I am guessing they wait until trade deadline to see if they can persuade him to stay...

I saw this yesterday and I would love to know what our projected roster is.. do they still have Chara and Greene on our team? B/C if you lost a 45 year old and a 40 year old and add Romanov we are a lot younger

Certainly possible, but that's a little more risky. Then the rest of the league knows that you have to move him by the end of the day or risk him walking for free. Not exactly a leverage booster.
