I honestly don't understand these heat maps, but the analytics community seems to think the the mikheyev signing is a good one for value. With the canucks investing more into analytics this year, I wonder if we more of these types of signings.

Joshua is a good signing. Adds some much needed size, plays a bit physical, skates not bad.

I seemed to remember him for the covid when the farm teams were together. He can be easily put on waivers. 4th line spots are up for grabs. Sounds like he is the type of player they would rather have on 4th line.

The colour shows you shot volume when that player is on the ice in that zone. So in the first one you can see that when Mikheyev is on the ice, there is a high volume of shots right in close to the goalie, which is a good thing. Similarly, when he is PKing, there is a very low volume of shots in general, and little to no action happening in the slot, which obviously is good.

Don't mind lazar at 4LC too. Adds a bit of grit and 'paper' but he is no Beagle that's for sure.

just need a 3LC (unless they keep D!cki) and the RHD and all set for season start.
