Analytic tunnel vision... you get a lot of undersized players.

This year everyone laughing at letting Gaudreau walk for free, next year everyone will laugh at us when JT and Horvat walk for free

If people are not careful, I'm going to go back and start pulling posts when this management was put together. Rebuilding the 4rth line is a far cry from turning over the roster, big changes coming, getting rid of players like Boeser, rebuilding the D, turning Miller into 1st round pick, stud RHD prospects and a solid established player... etc etc etc.... these people are now going on about patience and slowly looking like they are inline with Lordy's predictions instead.

Do it please do it!!!

I blame it on Lefty, he picks all the crappy teams to support.

Hurricanes aren't messing around. Today they've added Brent Burns, Max Pacioretty, Ondrej Kase, Lane Pederson and Dylan Coghlan... They have around $5.5M in cap space remaining.

Canes buy low on Burns and Patches, two key guys on SCF caliber teams

Canucks pay top dollar for a 3rd liner from a team that's never won a playoff round

- Nucker101

Uhm, Canes still paying salaries, and both those teams missed the playoffs… this is probably your most idiotic post ever.

I've been saying this for a long time. At some point, positional and player type need has to factor into BPA instead of just stats and having a great shot etc.

Burns will be 40 by the time his contract is done and is 5.25 against the hurricanes Cap. They needed a replacement for DeAngelo, and the market for defensemen is soo high right now, so I don't think its as great as you make it out to be. San Jose ridding themselves of that contract, given their aging core, is a massive W for them.

However, Paccioretty is still a 1st line winger and a fantastic player. I think them buying low and making Vegas throw in a sweetener to take on his contract is a tidy piece of business. Cap Space = Power in a flat cap.

I like that Burns trade on 1st glance.

I know he's old, but last year had 10g and 54 points/82 games.
Still can handle a lot of minutes.
$5.25 for 3 years with salary retained.

- dbot

His D warts can be hidden on a very good D team like Canes.

Easy son, the season starts in October not July. To think the Canucks were going to magically turn things around after eight years of your hero Jim Benning is ludicrous. Building takes time….patience Booner lite.

I heard there’s lots of closures for salmon on the coast. West coast salmon is like the Philadelphia Flyers, slowly dying
- LeftCoaster

No it's not, hatcheries are pumping out more fish than ever. DFO is (frank)ed, the closure here is to protect 2 runs of Fraser Chinooks but 95% of the fish we get here are Puget Sound fish. What's the point of making hatchery fish available to fisherman and then not clip them, stupidity.

Nonsense... I'm laughing at all the changes that people said were going to happen starting last trade deadline. Now those people are preaching patience.

A spin caster is the last person who should preach patient fishermen. I patiently taught myself to fish spin, bait caster, center pin, one handed and two handed fly casting.

- boonerbuck

Pfft. I chose spincasting after trying all of that gimmicky garbage. Enjoy your next trip to Cabellas princess.

Lol I often forget too how Benning left us with no cap space, no prospects, not much picks. It’s like he didn’t have a long term plan. Now we’re stuck with mediocre overpayed players, cap fines, buyouts and no real desirable assets to package them with to free up space. Annnnd Benning even inherited a mess from Gillis(Loungo recapture, no prospects, little picks). We’ve been a poopty team for a decade. What’s another half decade to clean up this mess?

Garland for Kapanen/Pickering

More cap space.
Weaker on scoring.
Good RHD prospect.

Enough or can do better?

I think so, but they’re aggressively shopping Pearson and Garland from the sounds of it. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Garland-Marino swap. Then pearson for a 3rd rd pick or something and sign some protection for all these tiny prospects we have.

We need defense now and later though.
