He wants to go elsewhere, he’s earned that choice. Other teams will line up to pay him the same. Not often a guy finishes top5 in scoring and goes UFA, he’s headed for a serious payday. NJ with Hughes would be a very fun PP to watch. Not sure he’ll want to play for Torts. Lots of possibilities!

They can rebuild around Markstrom & Tanev. They will have a ton of cap space, plug a couple of holes with reasonable UFA signings and they'll be in the playoff hunt again next season.
