Sabres fishing pole snapped, have another on order. But could take 2 to 3yrs before we are ready to catch any Big Fish. |

I need the Sabres to make some bold decisions on young guys here next offseason. Use one or two to get a great player. You should know what you have in Mittelstadt. Time to buck up or shut up.

Mitts put the team in some guessing games with health and early effort concerns.
Quinn also with injuries last season
Upl as well
Tough to know what you have, when they cant shake the injury bug |

Agreed, that to me is a primary purpose of next season. Who plays decent, yet is redundant to have trade value while not creating another gaping hole.
It's another reason I'd love to see Johnson sign and play on both sides of 3rd pairing...could that make Joker/Bryson/himself redundant? |

If you wait until you are 100% sure, the problem then is that everyone else is 100% sure too.

Now that Silly Season Day 1 is over with, any lower level FA's the team should consider?

That's my thing, I know there's a lot of ? with this young team. But with the assets and cap space they had this year and with some of the players moved at such low asset cost. Would have been a good year to jump in the game just a bit. |

I mean if Johnson kills it in camp it makes someone expendable. I hope it's joker but they like him way more than we do.

Not sure I would go there myself as I think we have him in Girgensons.
He doesn't take FO's. |

I'm not expecting some incredible return by using, for example, Mittelstadt by himself. What I mean, more so, is that some of these early 20s guys, like Mitts, you need to make a decision on.
Your defense of Dahlin Power Sam and Loob aren't going anywhere. Same with Bryson. There's a ton of competition at the bottom especially if Johnson is added.
You can shed Kyle, Bjork, Vinnie, Girgensons next year if you so choose. Personally I don't think they would want to, at least for Kyle and Z. The evolution of Peterka and Quinn should make Vinnie expendable over the course of the season.
Unless anyone explodes out of Rochester, you're probably going another year with short term offensive signings.
Even after next season ends, you still have Skinner, Thompson, Tuch, Krebs, Cozens, Asplund, JJP, Quinn and Olofsson fighting for top 6 minutes. You may even have Savoie ready to roll for 23-24.
What do you do to bring in a guy like, I don't know, Burakovsky? Does he make you that much better, next offseason, than one of the wingers listed? Or do you try and trade Olofsson and Mittelstadt for Bo Horvat at the TDL. |

Kevo chose to build this team with draft picks like all good GMs do. We look cheap because of all these children making ELC and bridge money. Some day, you're going to need to pay them. |

On paper : nice if savoie could replace olofsson in 2 years or less. By the (,tdl) 2024 maybe.
Get a 2nd for olofsson if he has a replacement ready. Ecl contract still |
