disagree but it set the tone
- homiedclown

In terms of budget and cap, it was significant. Not landing him would have forced different moves. It set the course for everything.

Bishop was the key move of the off-season.
- Lunaion

We landed a good stay at home Dman for Power. That’s the best move IMO

Be surprised if he played with Power.

Highly debatable if he's a top 4 defender and/or a good partner for Power.

I think the sens, wings, blue jackets got much better then us

we were in the mix with those 4 teams

unless you get all star play from power and dahlin and 40 goals from skinner and tage

team could easily take a step backwards from last year and revert to a bottom 5 team in the NHL

40 mil in cap space and we add a bottom pair d man and in essence a 28 year old rookie goalie

Was that the best hockey move they could have made? or was that the best hockey move that fit the budget?

I kind of feel like they are hoping to back in to Berard next year.

We would be furious next year if/when we suck until the lottery gods reward us with bedard, and now we would suddenly be a cup favorite

Not sure. Buffalo is a tough sell. We can’t force players to sign here that don’t want to be here. That will hopefully change with the young talent we have bringing some success

Getting the best prospect since Matthews would be quite nice.

Then you make your win now moves.

casey and cozens should be projected to be 60 point players by now

one looks like a third line center, and the other is probably going to be replaced by savoie in 12 months

a year later you got 3 russians, rosen and our other 2 first round picks knocking on the door

okposo is not going to put up 21 more goals this year

the only way the current lineup works is if dahlin and power break out
the 28 year old rookie puts up vezina like numbers

and the coach finds the right chemistry up and down the linup hoping quinn and peterka find a 2 way game and put up 40 plus points each

- homiedclown

Cozens looks like a 3rd line center? Was that because he played 3rd line center?

Skinner/Tage/Olo
Paterka/Bedard/Quinn
Krebs/Cozens/Tuch
Kulich/Ohstlund/savoie

Samuelson/Dahlin
Power/trade
Johnson/Joki

Mitts/Asplund/boatload of other prospects

Draft bedard and trade those extra dudes with your three 2nds for a top RHD and goalie and your looking at 10 years of cup runs

Yeah I’m not going to get my hopes up for Bedard when we will have at best a 10% chance of getting him.

28 even strength points playing 16 minutes a night

there is no wow factor in his game and you can't change my mind

I still think that he is the next Peca. His finish isn't great but I still think there is more there - we saw that in the tournament over the summer. I think he is the perfect example of a guy that is going to break through.
- Slump Buster

Hope so, I'm rooting for cozens, very likeable kid

I like the peca comparison, defense 1st ,body checking only bigger and better skater.

Stone hands though....

Just replace Girgs and you have a servicable 4th line.

He a black hole for possession

- DirtyDan

Are you missing the part where the Sabres are rebuilding their reputation.

You pay and play the veterans who work hard and teach the kids the ropes.
When it's natural, you replace the vets ice time , with the young talent.
You earn your time and get time that has been earned.

in his first full season playing with the likes of https://frozenpool.dobber....com/players/dylan-cozens

Took half the year for them to play him with anyone serviceable and then was sent back to lines with Hino and Okposo.

When he played with Skinner and Tuch or Asplund and Olof in the 3rd quarter he was awesome.

I don't think you'd put him anywhere near the category of Grier and Holzinger when it comes to stone hands. He'll be fine.
