30 mil cap space
Johnny just took less money to play in buffalo west
If this culture is so great they could have landed more the.a 28 year old rookie goalie and a bottom pair d mab with 30 mil - homiedclown
And who said the “culture was so great”?

It’s even easier to keep moving the goalposts making incorrect statements or assumptions that you don’t know are true or not |

If cozens and casey are so great why did adams take 3 centers thursday - homiedclown
Centers easily move to the wing. Its like going back a grade.
Wingers to center not so much.
Hell you might think Cozens might be better at LW if you watched him at the beginning of the summer. |

Don't believe the Gibson report? - Lunaion
Not sure.
There could be many reasons he exercised his NTC. Family wants to stay in Anaheim/out west, wife hates the city of Buffalo 😂 (see: Mrs. Babcock), etc. Yes, the reputation of a losing organization hurts, but I've yet to hear from any players calling out the owners as being terrible (some office employees, yes). We all have our opinions of the Pegula's (some are just downright gross and quite disturbing), but players talk, and from what I've seen, they do treat their athletes very well for the most part. |

adams didn't even try
that is the part people want to ignore
40 mil in cap space and didn't try to land any upgrades - homiedclown
Your point is that "People are starting to notice". I've said over and over again that building teams don't spend to the cap. Don't believe me, lets look at the data.
2016 - 2017 Avalanche - 14 mill under the 71 mill cap
The following year (as they moved to the kids) they had the 4th lowest payroll in the sport. Should we call up Sakic and tell him that - even though they were nowhere near winning a cuo - instead of letting Compher play that he would have been better served that year by acquiring a 28 year old version of him?

What's your opinion? It's improving, but not helping them yet? - Lunaion
"Are you missing the part where the Sabres are rebuilding their reputation."
I think this is what you referenced?
I think the league hasn't noticed particularly ( where a ufa wants to be in buffalo) over another city.
I think guys like cozens and dahlin have probably noticed the difference. They may not want to leave buffalo, soon ..... like 23 and 9 and 55.
Buys a few more years to get lucky and build a team players want to be part of universally.
Dahlin under ralph last year would = dahlin playing elsewhere now.

C bus got 1 good player.
They're still trash.
Detroit got better but I'm not convinced they're better than us.
Ottawa probably better than us now. But for how long. Will Cat stay ? How much longer will Giroux be a near ppg player? Can Batherson repeat?
They have questions just like us.

It's all moot until they lace them up. For all the sac riding everyone on here is doing over Ottawa and Detroit, they haven't played a single game yet.
For all we know, Cozens and Mitts pot 20 next year, Krebs puts up 30 assists, Dahlin hits 65-70 points and Power wins ROY in front of an inspired Comrie. |

To be fair, Detroit has a strong top 6 and a solid bottom 6 now, plus a game changer on defense.

People are taking notice, and if anyone doesn't want to admit that they see it, they're just being bullheaded.
I really think some on here need to take this season off, for their own mental well-being. - Powerslave
People in the area taking notice or Sabres fans taking notice. Sure like what Donnie's doing and the growth of the players. But the outside view says different when 2 players say No. I really hope this works I really do, but to say we can't bring in players because we might block a prospect doesn't vibe with me because that prospect might not be ready next year. Actually with being so young they might take more than that. Sabres had a chance with all the assets and cap space to make themselves better for the know. And with some of the asset costs to get some of these players it really wouldn't have hurt much of anything other than Pegula's checking account |

They found a way to sign a bunch of bodies on the first day of free agency. Did they improve their team for next year? Absolutely. Are they closer to winning a championship? The Sens might be because of Debrincat (there is a lot to play out with his contract) but the answer is a resounding "nope" for the others.

We just started another rebuild LAST YEAR
*not 11 years ago, like u continuously say
There’s other teams who’ve been rebuilding longer & are ahead of us- Detroit & Ottawa are good examples
Columbus decided not to rebuild, they weren’t behind us
But they aren’t building a team that’ll be able to contend for the Cup
Maybe a team who can get bounced in the 1st round though
I’d like us to be better
Adams is building this team the right way |

Which FA's are you signing for those bloated contracts just to say "we improved"?
You have no idea who got better. They could all fall flat on their faces. |

Also, we have waves of good young players coming. Some won't pan out, others might be stars. Nobody else has anything close to that coming. That's what fueled Tampa's run - waves of good, young, cheap talent. They apparently lost every first day of free agency.

And it was apparently Sakic's and Yzerman's wet dreams when they were setting up for their run. I bet we could save a little time by getting them both on the phone at the same time to tell them that they did it all wrong.
