Whether or not the norris contract is a mil or two too much... at least it is done, no holdouts or anything of that nature.
The core is getting locked up but I worry about Bath. Love his play and his contract is easily one of the best value contracts in the league but does anyone have concerns over him and the WCJ team in 17/18? - TDBSenatoR
I'm a little more concerned about Formenton. |

Well, that's a bit more than I'd hoped (was thinking more like $6.5M-$7M AAV, or else maybe a bridge deal), but they're clearly locking up the core. Feels like there may really be something of an internal $8.0M Chabot "soft-cap" as well, with Norris getting $7.95M AAV, and the fact that Tkachuk had to hold-out to go just ~$0.2M over. We'll have to see how that plays out in terms of RFA negotiations with DeBrincat/Stutzle. - khawk
100% overpayment.
I think it would’ve been better to bridge JN for 2-3yrs and see what he actually is.
However, it’s possible PD felt, with Cat and Giroux in the fold…Norris will go off and outproduce this deal for the next two seasons.

Appears Dorion is going to hit his internal cap budget of $75m. Assumes Zaitsev is moved out and an equivalent salary ($4.5m) will be coming in.
Next year he will need to add costs for increases for Debrincat, Stutzle and Zub. He should have about a $10m cushion to be able to get that done.
I think locking the young guys into longer term deals is wise and prudent. |

Lost in the shuffle, there are still some solid prospects looking to make some noise like Greig, Thomson, JBD, Sokolov, Soogard, etc. Not saying these guys are NHL locks, but there are guys coming up the ranks that could help solidify the depth of this team. I'm also sure a new name or two will come out of development camp. - Gord_Wilson_2.0
Greig is a propect that's always intruiged me. Most analysts i read said he dropped a bit when the Sens got him, and he's slowly risen in the ranks of prospects in the league.
I still don't see him ready this year, but I think he'll have a strong showing in Belleville (I assume its Belleville), and maybe challenge for a spot next year.

This is somethig I"ve been wondering about too. 8 players were allgeged to be invovled? And I think only three have been ruled out completely. |

75M is incorrect, I know you keep saying it, but it's wrong. I am not at will to post the number due to my source as they said in due time I can write about it, but for now naturally I wont but 75M is not the number.

When Formenton and Batherson wiped their Instagram accounts of anything from that event and other activities with the team....it certainly has to make you wonder!

Greig is definitely a polarizing player. He wasn't viewed as having the skill-upside of some of the other players taken around his draft position, but few have done better since in terms of points-per-game (95pts/60GP). That said, the 60GP is part of the issue, because that's a lot of games missed. But then you factor in the intangibles of being a team captain, having NHL pedigree, and having a strong physical element to his game. Yet he missed his chance to show his stuff at the WJC, and had a disappointing WHL playoffs. But then Craig Button got involved, and unexpectedly named him one of the top-20 prospects outside the NHL in April (#18).
Regardless, he plays with a lot of intensity, and it's clear that Dorion/Smith are going to love him. Where he ultimately winds up in the lineup is a bit unclear, but I think he's certainly well-suited to a more abrasive 3rd line role. |

If Norris really doesn't work out, they can still buy him out at 1/3 in 2 years as an under 25. And because of the salary structure (very back loaded), Sens would actually gain cap credit for 3 years, before having a meager 1.5 dead cap hit for about 8 years. But with what the cap should likely look like by then, 1.5 will be peanuts.

the sad part is anyone with a functioning brain cell, which seems to be getting rarer and rarer every day, can tell she is 100% lying, the 2 biggest red flags are ease to spot, She did not file a police report and she refused to cooperate with all investigations.
February 2019 — Hockey Canada says London police informed the organization its criminal investigation was closed. Hockey Canada says the woman declined to speak with authorities or its own investigators.
April 2022 — The woman files a statement of claim seeking $3.55 million in damages from Hockey Canada, the Canadian Hockey League and the eight unnamed players.
over 3 year to file suit just when the players would be key pieces in their teams...

The only public source we have seen on the $75m. internal cap is from Garrioch which he attributed to Dorion. So, I would not be surprised if the actual number is different.

This is not an appropriate comment. Victims of sexual trauma struggle with making choices. We don't know the circumstances and it would be wise for all of us to respect the process that has been put in place.

no you are making excuses for a liar and doing harm to actual victims of sexual assault and rape who will not be believed because of fakes claiming to be victims to get money or harm another persons reputation.

amazing how all the believers in these cases never care about the truth or the damage done to the accused, amazing how they never seem to look at the evidence or lack of evidence or motives of the accuser. |

This is a sports blog where we come together to talk hockey. We do not have the information nor are we qualified to pass judgment on something this complex and sensitive. It is important for us to stick to our primary concern of hockey. I accept that you may have strong opinions on this matter. But it is not fair for you to use this forum and implicate others with your point of view.

Exactly, trust me....I reported it first before the draft, he was given carte blanche for $$$ and all they asked him was will this put the team in the playoffs and increase season ticket sales....plus I know a few things that were okayed by the league too.

Very encouraging. Just as long as they keep enough in reserve for Stutzle, DeBrincat and Zub. Lots of deadwood they could clear out this year in order to create space. Not as easy to find savings next year. |
