Really important and timely comment.
"Old style" coaches seem to have a short shelf life. Tortarella comes to mind. Sutter was great in LA but it all fell apart in a short period of time. The act begins to wear thin inside the dressing room after the initial success.
On the other side, you see the new style coaches in Colorado and Tampa that are so low key. They do not criticize, question or doubt their players in public or through the media. They always appear to promote the idea of a team leadership that comes from within the team rather than from behind the bench.
Guys like Tortarella and Sutter, whether intended or not, always appear that they are at the centre of everything that is happening and need to be the smartest guy in the room who always has the best or most clever answer. - spatso
Torts short shelf life, like Mike Keenan....due to the style of play he expects from his players, it cuts their career shorts....asking players from the Rangers, Jackets, etc....

4 games in total....but he stays away from a lot of contact too...he uses his speed to avoid it....East is different though....will be interesting to see how he adapts! - Kevin Francis really? those 4 were injury or something else? |

You get that deal done and I nominate you for GM of the year. I'd keep Tanev and immediately trade Matthew out of town.
Realistically do the math and it obviously can't work. Take Tkachuk and Debrincat out of the deal and throw in somebody like Sokolov or Jarventie or that 2nd round pick you got for Brown. |

I like it! That makes a lot of sense.
On Matt Tkachuk: It would be great if he and Brady could play on the top line but I think their both LW's so I don't see a fit, AND I don't see Matt Tkachuk worth over 9m+ in terms of fitting into a price structure like Ottawa. If we traded to a team like the leafs for say a Nylander ++ then that makes a lot of sense.
I think PD is already making a case for GM of the year (or off season at least) |

I will have a blog up in the next 24 hours!
Brady got engaged, see my Twitter feed.
A bunch of us were in the Prior and met Jakob Chycrhrun on Thursday night....and trust me.....he laughed when asked about the rumours to Ottawa but the whole family is first class.....and I am more than convinced that he would welcome a trade here! He was at Krave Bistro in the Prior....two nights in a row that they have been out on the town in Arnprior. |

Sens fans would welcome a trade of Jakob to OTT also, very much so. |

I thought Lalime was pretty durable. Wasn't it Pascal LeClaire who was always hurt ? |

I agree. Started summer with my preferred player for the Sens to acquire was Matthew Tkachuk.
The addition of DeBrincat, Giroux and Talbot is not too shabby. Moving/buying out of Murray, Colin White and Del Zotto is good. Still some work to do in finding a new home for Nikita Zaitsev.
If there is only one move left for this summer, I think everyone recognizes that a top 4 Dman is the priority. Chychrun would be the first choice. He would be a great choice...but really expensive trade. Tanev would be less pricey but still a good add.
Matthew Tkachuk talk now is probably just a distraction.

I hope it stays that way too. Don't want a 'forward' version of Patrick Lalime ("The Goalie Made of Glass"). That guy had more bad luck than anyone else on that roster that I can remember. - Panzer_IVA
In each of Lalime's season in Ottawa he played roughly 60 games... I was young back then but I don't recall any injury problems with Lalime cept maybe a bit in 2004. |
