Over under on 40 games next year? - Grinder47
60 was the benchmark I was thinking. I’m taking 56 games.
What about 5v5 and PP point distribution?
The deal is fine and fair but they need another top 6. |

A post that isn’t full of hate and angry. Well done! - sextoymagic
It doesn't have to be angry when it can be, "I was right!"
This is a good deal for the Penguins. I think the glory days are over, but at this point, you just go all-in and hope for the best and deal with the fallout afterwards. |

Yes, but if you have extra space from Zucker along with this added space you can extend Jarry and still bring in a decent middle six winger. - Rinosaur
I wouldn't move Petts. I would be looking to unload Zucker or Dumoulin for either upgrades or cap space (no sweeteners for the latter). If you can't find anything that makes sense, then just stick with what you have and see if any bargains pop up. |

Sounds like Geno just needed some time away from the process (not atypical in these types of negotiations). Glad he had his "Dorothy" moment before free agency started, and decided that the deal that was on the table (4x6.1) wasn't so bad. He probably also saw the bad press he was getting and realized that he would be seen as a hero for staying in the 'Burgh. Congrats to all parties for getting to the "right" resolution. - Florida Penguin
Players/agents were permitted to talk to teams after the draft. Sounds to me like he wasn't getting anything much better than what the Pens were offering. |

I hope we sign some young bargain players today. I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a trade or two |

Maybe it’s time to lay off Ron Hextall a bit. Just signed Letang, Malkin, Rakell and Rust for a combined $22.3 million annually. Way less than anyone could have projected
I’m with Rino … I’m not a big Hextall guy but credit where it’s due, this is great work. |

What a price the Oil got Kane for...just a little over 5 mill cap hit per season. Lebrun reported a month or so ago that if he was signing with the Oil it would start with a 7 and if anywhere else it would start with an 8.... If he doesn't revert back to his POS ways that is a steal for what he's going to bring.... |

#FreeAgentFrenzy. As usual, deals already in place and players already reportedly tied to team(s). Such as Campbell (EDM), Kuemper (WSH), Copp (DET), Giroux (OTT). It will be a busy day.

I agree with this. All 4 signings although 2 were extremely stressful ended up a pretty good bargain. I remember before Rust signed as I previously mentioned we only thought we could sign 2 of the three players and we thought all 3 would break the bank. I personally thought Letang would get 8-9 mil, Malkin would get 7mil (or more on the open market), Rakell would get 5-6mil and sign elsewhere, and Rust would at least get 6-7mil. He did an amazing job. We still have 4 million in cap space and most of the roster is signed. I do hope as stated earlier for a trade or two to change up the roster a bit from the year previous. |

I guess the rumors of Giroux going to a cup contender were false lol. I mean OTT will definitely have a better roster than a year previous, but I would think he would go back to Florida or even Colorado. |

I’m down for Burakovsky,D Strome, Mikheyev, Kulak and Zadorov.
Maybes would be Palat, Namestnikov, and Cole. |

Their young guys will be a year further along in their development and they managed to ditch Murray and added Debrincat and Giroux... thats a pretty damn good offseason for them right there. If Talbot stays healthy they could get into a wildcard spot.
Possibly a team that could use someone like Dumo to give Branstrom another year to develop.

You cant even get the details right, dummy...its 4* more years of the same and most all of us are pretty pleased with it. That's what winning a lot does, makes you appreciate a lot of things.
*Assuming Sid stays after his contract is up...I think he will now... |
