Can someone tell me why nj traded Zacha for haula? It’s not to clear cap space. Haula has one more year at 2.37 mil and Zacha is an rfa. Basically took on cap.

I do t think this is directly related to the jg ufa signing.

They're riding it out. Any extra years they give to the vets won't really prevent them from being bad (see: Chicago w/ Toews/Kane/Keith). And when they're tanking, they won't care about the cap space anyway.
