Somehow Dave Scott and Chuck Fletcher has singlehandedly been able to unite every Flyers fan into hating them. EVERY ONE.

They cannot afford to do a Chicago style teardown. Chicago has won 3 cups recently. They have banked enough capital to ride out a few rough years. If they did, they would be like Chi before the Kane/Toews era, and Comcast has shown they are not willing to take that long view financially.

Under the circumstances, you gotta go through the motions, keep most of the big names, and create enough drama to keep up appearances and fill seats.

DL seems good tank capital with good entertainment capital. Two years is the term. After that, salary cap ↑ + buyout will make his remainder negligible.

Risto hits, DL fights, TAD tweets, Clarke appears more often and says crazy things, and Torts threatens to fight Sielski. A team that picked top 5 last year is no better now. Add multiple injuries/surgeries/ailments, ride the drama and hope it stays that way?

Yeah, I had that impression for a while, from the way they handled the Couts injury last year. I mean, I know this franchise is not the smartest, but I have never thought they are buffoons, and some of the moves they have been making are off-the-charts strange.

I mean, can you imagine a less Torts like guy than Tony D? You talk about accountability and locker room divisions and you bring in an old school D-first coach and then you go get that guy into this mess?

- PT21

If that’s what they’re doing, so be it. I think much of the fan base would accept that course of action…but then come out and say it.

I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a bidding war on DeLaurier. This deal reminds me of when Hextall signed horse face. Hell at least he could play a little.

If NJ has made a huge offer already then why isn’t it a done deal yet?

How long can Johnny wait for the Flyers to get their act together?

I think the fan base FULLY see’s this team is no better then a team that was a laughing stock bottom feeder. You can only sell so many Gritty dolls and lithographs of former players to appease this fan base. Fletcher and ownership sold the fan base on an “aggressive retool” . He’s failed…and failed miserably. As you said this team has no capital. I didn’t cart out the term “aggressive retool” that was the Flyers to help sell tickets for the last 5 months of last year’s debacle. I just don’t see a GM that has any creativity and appears more concerned about appearances then getting the job done. There is no light at the end of the tunnel…there’s absolutely nothing to get excited about this team when looking at the new season.

He's still waiting for Chuck to either trade Provorov or the 2023 Bedard/Michkov lottery pick to make room.

But Chuck said: "NIC DESLAURIERS FIST!"

- Tomahawk

they needed to sign Deslauriers first in order to include him in a potential JVR deal as the sweetener.

Easy contract to move at mid year, gives Attard or Zamula time to prepare to playin the NHL.
- WhiskeyMan

No it's not. Not with a 2nd year. It won't be until 23/24 that he can be moved if he can still play.

So he can be 170 or 170 of more muscle.

So let's see....majority on here wanted no part of JG or any high end player because it won't make a difference as we still have many issues. Most of us also agreed that we shouldn't give up any more picks, especially a #1 next year. We either want the Flyers to tank or be a bottom team to build for the future instead of trying to contend/sell tickets. Flyers did not make the big splash to be a bubble team and this place still blows up! You'd think people would be happy we didn't do anything crazy...although there is still time!

It is just speculation on my part, but there is a difference between saying CF is vapid/mediocre/average etc and saying he is Rich Kotite/Mike Milbury dumb.

Now if he trades first/2nd next season, or signs JG for a lot, I would be totally wrong. It happens.

- PT21

He is Mike Milbury dumb. It's dumber than that not to think that he isn't.

Do you think that’s what’s happening? I was wondering about this. I doubt chuck would have a press conference while still working on it. He’s most likely going to have the conference to say why he couldn’t get it done.

The issue is that all the moves me made in 2022 have prevented us from getting JG. When you weight the choices between what we got and what it cost us, we not only lost out on JG, but we could have had him and instead spent that money on nonsense.

They traded three picks for DeAngelo. If you’re going to blow it up then blow it up. If you’re going to trade three friggin picks for Tony DeAngelo then you make space for an elite forward that isn’t signing with anyone because he’s praying the Flyers find the space.

That’s the gravity of the situation. The kid is desperate to play for the Flyers and they are like, nah we made our aggressive move in getting TDA.

Chuck’s done. The only way this happens is if Gaudreau only wants the Flyers and takes way less or is willing to wait a while. Which, he isn’t going to do either.
