Anyone who has even a basic understanding of the cap would realize that a team is not going to put themselves millions and millions over the cap in mid July in the hopes that they can somehow get cap compliant by the start of the season. Flyers have less than a million of available cap space. With Tippett and Frost still needing to be signed. Are you aware that there is now off season LTIR and that both Farabee and Ellis can be placed on it right now, as long as they can provide medical documentation that they will miss the first 10 games and or 24 days of the season? The Flyers aren't trying to get space with the 10%. They're trying to get space so they can fit Gaudreau in with a workable roster.

He is trying to fix the latter short term and the former long term. I believe if he raises attendance to above 90% and also picks high, he stays, irrespective of their record.

I only said what I found out over a week ago to lead people into discussion with jg on team.

I actually think that if the flyers signed JG AND we somehow have a healthy roster (Coots, Bee, Hayes ) Hart plays well as he did for most of last year, then we'd be a team that challenges for a playoff spot and that might get in. That's likely what is being sold to fans is that the team is in the hunt and that if you get in, anyone can win type of thing. But I don't see a contender which is the real issue.
We've been saying that for a number of years now, and most times those hopes are dashed when a disproportionate number of injuries pile up. Can't remember the last your optimistic scenario has worked out. Too many what-ifs for this team to contend with the current roster configuration.
