Why should we? This roster is well below average even when entirely healthy - hereticpride
The bottom line is that they're not going to be good enough offensively. They don't have the defense. The best we can hope for is that Tortorella gets the team game straightened out and they can at least be competitive.

NJ adding decent goaltending and possibly Gaudreau... Flyers could be alone in the Metro cellar by a 20-30 point margin.

If you want Fletcher to be gone, today was a very good day. Only a playoff birth can save him. - Trox88
I understand the point you're trying to make, but the franchise is still in trouble. There's alot of time left between now and the end of next season to make moves, whether it's trading players and draft picks, signing more ridiculous contracts or extensions, scouting assignments (perhaps outside of the usndtp)...and all those senior advisors and special assistants (ie possible replacements) will still remain just waiting in the wings....cause they have Dave Scott's ear just as much as they do Chuck's |

They haven’t replaced Giroux’s scoring. They are arguably worse defensively with TDA. |

Hahahahahahahha and you believe him? Nowwwww you believe cf. oh when it fits your narrative.
Here’s a clue. Don’t believe poop they say - Stayin alive
I actually want you to be correct in your prediction about JG. As much as many of us disagree with the possible signing itself, at least things would end up making some type of sense.
As it stands, the moves made to clear cap space, and the subsequent signings are simply indefensible. They represent a total lack of direction and understanding of asset/cap management.
As far as Chuck's presser, what is he supposed to say? We all know he's full of poop. If he is actually still in on JG, he HAS to say what he did.
Regardless, it's not going to happen and neither you or your anti-lame alt will talk your way out of this "done deal" you've been spewing. |

Yup. The only + I can come up with is that DeAngelo can’t be nearly as bad as Yandle was last year.
I don’t know what to expect from Coots returning honestly but they just don’t have the wingers to put with him to make a really formidable 1st line. |

Yeah, what could go wrong with Carter Hart being the only real experienced goalie in the organization. |

Easily....The d corps is not one I would consider to be strong defensively, especially that right side (even with the "new additions")....and goaltending will be some combo of Hart, Sandstrom, Ersson (coming off surgery) and Troy Grosenick who they signed today lol. That's a very inexperienced group to say the least |

If they were still in he wouldn’t waste 30 minutes talking to the media. That happens when teams are done. |

The good news. As horrendously bad as DeAngelo is defensively. He's not as bad as Keith Yandle was last year. The bad news is that he is starting on the top pair.

I read what chuck said in his presser. wtf? I’ve never been so mad. The only thing worse than being too aggressive is saying that you are and leaving the team in limbo because you didn’t execute your plan and also don’t want to rebuild. The team will be a last place team this year and worse, it’s no closer to a stated goal or plan because they don t have one.
I get centre ice every year to watch them and may just skip it this year. There won’t be much to watch. |

At least Fletcher had a line in the sand not to trade 1st rd picks. If he didn't do it to move JVR for JG, I doubt that lines gets moved. This year comes down to whether York, Frost, Cates, and Tippett are viable NHL players. If not, they ll be a top 5 lottery team again, which is a long term win for the organization. If they are viable, lower in the lottery, but better organizational depth. Being forced to keep JVR should lead to him traded for an asset at the deadline. With FA here, the longer no player for player trades involving TK or Provy make it doubtful they don't get moved to the deadline at the earliest, which only happens if the tank has been activated.
Now the big unknown is Sanheim. What happens with him. Don't know.

You can combine the ratings from this year and next and they wont surpass the Sixers ratings for this coming year - THE BLACK HAND
Well, the Sixers averaged 98.7 in home games last year apparently. I assume they will draw that much again, The Flyers were 84.7% last year. Since the capacity of the areans are roughly the same size, Flyers would need to average something like 112% this year to combine the two year ratings and rival that of the Sixers for the coming year. That would be rather hard to do. |
|
|
|
I didn’t think they would do much today and they won’t. Perfect. This season will be long but if they get 1st overall it will be worth it. So much for the church wives. Lol |

Can teams walk away from a qualifying offer? The Deslauriers signing kind of makes Zac Attack redundant.
