I could see chuck doing that and then worrying about cap compliance in the future.

So JVR doesnt need to be moved right now, but poop would need to be resolved before the end of the off season.

Posted that earlier. With the buyout yesterday, we'd have 11 mil with my rudimentary guess if we went over 10 percent. Then you place Bee and Ellis on LTIR to start the season. It COULD work but we also have RFA to re sign and a hole on D. Theoretically you could do it and then sort out JVR later as you say. I also don't know what money we'd save with sending him to the A? Maybe a mil?

Not saying he’s not a good player but tkatchuk is going to get money like he’s top of the food chain, you watch him in the playoffs?

In Philly….he doesn’t have to worry about the playoffs.

No player’s point totals stay steadily in the hundreds year after year. Tkachuk is legit and he’ll be fine.

I agree with you on the money but Tkachuk is only 24 years old. Regardless of if he loses Gaudreau or not, this passed season should do wonders for his play moving forward. I’m not expecting another 115 point season from Gaudreau once the two players are split but I expect both to find linemates that will continue allow them to be really good players.

Perhaps if Fletcher could do some actual GM'ing...he could pull of 2 trades to clear cap space. Trade JVR retaining salary, with a lesser pick, 3rd or 4th maybe. And then make a hockey trade, moving out a salary like Konency, for a player that has potential, but hasn't been a fit with his current team? Puljarrvi, tolvanen, Crouse, etc. and of course would have a lower cap hit....you'd still be making a dump, but doesn't cost your 1st, and leaves you upside.

I have serious doubts that Ellis is going to be ready to start the season and if he is, if he can stay in the lineup. So if the Flyers want to be a good team, they have to know how weak that right side of the defense is. Realistically if they want to be a good team. You're right, they need another RH shot defenseman at least in the short term. I agree, Attard would benefit from some AHL time.

Maybe they need to think about it another way.

Move contracts like Konecny and say Laughton.

Sign Gaudreau and he helps JVR score 30 this year.

Move JVR at deadline because he'll have value and your still not in a playoff spot.

I dont want to see them compound one mistake by saddling York with another Keith Yandle type situation and then punish him for his dropoff in play.


It was organizational malfeasance to put that kid on the ice with that stiff AND make him play his off side, then put it on him that his stats dropped off.
