I’m glad you brought this up. We haven’t seen a full season and the ceilings both Tippett and Frost could provide. A healthy Hayes and Couturier should make us better. Konency and Farabee need to be better. There is no reason neither guy can’t sniff 30 goal seasons in their careers. I don’t know what the deal is with Konency’s dry spells. That’s not just development. - SuperSchennBros
I am very curious about how York, Brink, Cates, Attard, and Forrester develop this season. Some will be in the NHL, others in the AHL at least to start or even all season. Can half of these guys be NHL contributors on a playoff team in time? No clue, but it would be a relief to see signs this season that some of these guys are legit NHL players that can be counted on to perform.

Well, on the bright side, this is a good draft year to totally suck. Not that it really matters in the end because this team ruins prospects faster than a teenager in Epstein's mansion. - MBFlyerfan
The problem with the Flyers is that they excel when expectations are low. We will not finish in the bottom 5 this year. We should, but we won't.
I bet we are fighting for a playoff spot just from over performing under a new coach. If they wanted to tank, they missed the chance to do so this past season. Instead we won meaningless games and lost out on some really decent picks. |

I don’t really care about our prospects passed Forrester and Gauthier. I don’t think Attard will become anything. |

Interesting. But guessing he wanted to leave them. |

Fair enough, your thoughts on York being a viable NHL Dman?

Im not. The Risto trade sealed his fate with me. Im estatic because from all of their misguided retool nonsense, they are going to hopefully bottom out with the potentially draft with talent like McDavid/Matthews or Ovi/Malkin available - THE BLACK HAND
Can you imagine.
Not since Lindros / LeClair did we have a duo like that.
Maybe Cutter is one who knows. |

Brink’s development is going to depend on his hip injury. |

I’m shocked he ended up with cbj. There’s no way that was his main plan. |

It’s difficult to say, but I think Chuck Fletcher actually did worse than I expected so far this off-season. And that’s saying a lot because my expectations were low. |

There is zero chance we’ll end up getting any of the top players next draft. Wel lose the lottery and pick just outside the top picks. |

Agreed, just horrible timing. Foerester lost a yr of development because of a shoulder injury, now his trajectory is in doubt. He looked really good at LV during the covid yr when he could not play in junior. |

This Deslauriers deal reminds me of the Jody Shelley deal way back when. - MBFlyerfan
Yes! I thought the same thing but at least Shelley scored the Rags goal against us in the great shootout game so that had to impress Homer! I have nothing against Nic D as I rarely have seen him play, but definitely a head scratcher.

[quote=Sir_Robot_Farts]Could Wayne Gretzky in his prime save this franchise?
I have 0 faith in management's ability to draft and develop a once in a life time player.
He'd put butts in seats. And that equals money. So in a sense, yes he could. |

I think York belongs. Yandle being signed didn’t help. |

Yeah, it's more to put more shame in this franchise. Although, with Jarry (maybe even DeSmith) you guys win that series. That's all I wanted was the Rangers out in the first round.
You have to move a D, should get something in return. - rayc16
marino should have some value, but thats who i would least want to move.
although with the signing of the lightning defender who knows. |

Sit on it for a year, dump what you can at the deadline, get as many picks as you can.
They (frank)ed up and didn't fire Chuck when they fired AV. - rayc16
Let's hope this is the case and agree that we should've dumped Chuck with AV. We weren't going to much anyway unless miraculously Coots, Ellis, etc return to form. we'll have to suffer through another miserable season which I won't like, but so be it. |

Completely unprepared and incapable of executing anything that remotely resembled or supported this aggressive retool plan that he’s been touting. It’s just been bizarre. |
