1500 comments. Flyers fans at least care I’ll say that. Might disagree on a ton of shyt, but this day is one of the very best days in flyers free agent day history.

Who in their right might thought spending 70 mill on Johnny hockey was a good idea? I don’t buy for a second that Fletcher wanted him anyway. Devils prob running the number up on Philly. Not confident they wanted him either as either team could have figured out 9.5 mill. Who objectively can look at this team and think - sure let me drop 70 mill and a huge chunk of my cap on a winger at almost 39 years old?

You want to criticize them for giving the goon penalty killer 2 mill - that’s fine, but not signing JG might have been the best move a flyers GM has done in a long time.

- Joe Nardone

The fact that #1 free agent preferred to sign with the Flyers and didn’t because the Flyers mismanaged the cap is my real problem. I would rather have JG and the multiple draft picks over RR, Ellis and TD.

That’s 100% correct. Funny thing tho is many people are fine dropping all that money on 38 year old center over next 8 years. Flyers fans a special breed

Most important takeaway from the presser: they were never in on JG and any of the top UFAs because of cap constraints.
- Tomahawk

We also got to hear about Ian Anderson and that amazing analytics department....more specifically the value charts of draft picks. In the DeAngelo trade, they believe those 3 picks sent to Carolina, a 2nd in 2024, lowest 3rd in 2023, and 4th in 2022, had equivalent value to a single 2nd round pick, 39th overall....😂😂😂

That makes the Ristolainen trade of a 1st and 2nd....and that 2nd rounder given with Ghost look even worse

Unbelievable. I can’t believe he said that! The only thing missing today was signing Nate Thompson at 12:02pm sharp this afternoon.
- SuperSchennBros

Darn, i thought he was sawn up already! Flyers need a 12-14 minutes plug
that AV gave him, to kill penalties and look like a 1987 4th line guy.

So basically the Flyers couldn't afford Johnny Hockey because of Hexy's signing of JVR. Wow, the last 2 GMs of this team have sucked. I see Hexy signing all the gray beards to extended contracts in Pitt! Ba ha, ruin that organization. Thanks! Giroux to Ottawa(sorry just catching up on things this evening)? So much for that relentless chase of the elusive silver chalice. Eh what?
- Phillywhiteout

Just a reminder that it was Chuck that added Kevin Hayes 7x7, RR 5x5, Deangelo 2x5, prematurely gave Farabee 6x5, traded for Ryan Ellis 6x6.25 remaining, and gave Carter Hart a massive raise after one of the worst goaltending seasons in recent history.

But I guess you could blame everything on Hexy and JVR...

I kind of wanted JG to be honest. Without him there is no hope for this team to be competitive for the forseeable future. Who knows, with him and this team catches lightning in a bottle. They stay healthy and the young kids step up, and Hart becomes the world class goalie that we all thought he was. Now there is simply no hope for this franchise at all. Just day after day of whining on here until the next political issue arrives. This sucks!! Thanks Hexy and Chuckles for ruining what was once a proud franchise.

So turns out it was JG who reached out to the Jackets, telling them it was one of his top choices:

"I'd never been to Columbus before until I made it to the NHL, so when I started playing there I didn't know what I was walking into, and I was just .. 'wow!'
- JG

"He told us this was one of his true primary destinations," Kekalainen said Wednesday evening. "We were like, 'OK, wow, is this real?' Once we realized that yeah, he wants to come here, we got into serious talks. We obviously let him know that he was one of the players that we desired the most, and when it got real serious to where he was like, 'OK, I want to come there,' then we got it through the finish line pretty quickly."

- Jarmo

Once the Flyers were out, it was Columbus all the way lol. Money wasn't the deciding factor.

Well, it wasn't a total joke. Hexy and chuckles are in this together. At this point I'd throw Chuckles out to get Hexy back, but that's only because Chuckles may be the worst GM in the history of pro sports.

He wanted Philly, but Chuckles bumbled his way into oblivion which is where this franchise will be until he is removed. The sooner the better. I'm not usually one to advocate people losing their jobs, but this man is incompetent and needs to go.

Morning everyone, how we doing today?

Flyers always the bridesmaid. Trotz, nah see you later. The hometown hockey hero thanks but no thanks. Once a proud and premier franchise is now a total laughingstock.

I am sure Chuck is blindsided right now along with the 3 blind mice. Asking himself why didn’t he want to come home.

JG to Columbus, I bet Torts wishes he had never left that team!

Yesterday IMO was an unrecoverable day for Chuck Fletcher. To buy-out Lindblom to gain $3.3M and then spend that money on two bums is just indefensible and to me the last straw. He clearly had no plan this off-season, did not read the market and clearly was reactionary when he found out JG wanted to come here. Its time for CF to be fired, he just is not up to the job and is dooming this franchise for years to come!

I think this is the Flyers way of tanking without making it obvious like Chicago is.

I thing the Flyers dodged a bullet by not get JG. That is a lot of money especially towards the end of his contract. Plus, not that he is in a tougher decision I want to see how he handles the abuse he is going to get. Do the jackets have anybody that can protect him?

Lol. That's the narrative because it's the only way this isn't Fletcher's fault. Hextall signed one contract that is still on this team, that's it. Even most of the NHL roster has been turned over.

They freed up 8.275 mill/yr when Giroux was traded. JG was signed for 9.8 mill. Giroux + Oscar gives them 11.5 mill. Where did all that money go?

They had to sign the worst forward in the league for 4 years (and according to fletcher, there was a bidding war for his services), etc...

Complain about the contract for one last victory lap, sure, but let's not act like it's preventing Fletcher from executing his master plan to outsmart the rest of the NHL GMs. The Flyers are currently over the cap for next year and still need to sign players, must be Hextall's fault.

So you're saying that you never thought that signing Gaudreau was a good idea?

Based on your performance the last day or so. You're going to call out other Flyers fans?
