Haula was way more than I expected. I thought it was gonna be like a 4th or 5th round pick. Haula is a great addition to the bottom 9 here. - jtylerm

Guess the idea is to phase out Ruff and then give Brunette more experience to bridge him into head coach. I like the move and probably helps that we had this odd coaching situation since I'd imagine other teams were just offering him to be an assistant coach. |

Per Darren Dreger again, Andrew Brunette is tracking towards joining the Devils as an associate coach. - vlongo4419

Depth D. Been saying for weeks they were going to add one. Might be another one added too
Todds takes on it: "Left-handed 3rd pairing D who defends OK and can kill penalties if need be. Take no prisoner kind of player to provide some jam." He likes the signing, and says he loves Smith. |

I think it goes to show that when players get injured they don't want to call up random shmucks from the AHL to play. Jaros and his ilk just didn't cut it. |

I can see depth but was curious with a couple of the prospects possibly moving up for the 3rd pair
Walsh
Bahl
And if ty has a bounce back season |

I think they'll still get a chance. I see Smith as the Jaros replacement, in a sense. More vet presence too. |

No idea if theyre legit, but flyers reporters are saying they're out on Gaudreau

It's a smoke screen. Flyers love their high profile FAs and have shown every year they will make hilarious cap dumps to try to make it work. If Flyers have a principle deal in place for him that requires them to move players around, I don't think JG is going to turn a deal down. |

Islanders have the space for now, but they'll need to re-up Barzal next year which makes it tough especially with all of their big vet contracts that are hard to move. |

I feel like jersey has a better pitch for him too, unless islanders also have a top prospect pool. |

I think the idea is that Isles went to two conference finals recently, are looking for the guy to put them over the top and are trying to transition to a more modern style of hockey. They have a young defensive core but an aged forward group. It's not a horrible look for a free agent. Also, apparently the players think really highly of the Isles now because Lou gives out money to veterans so it's done a lot to make player agents push their clients there. |

Better contract than the Trochek one IMO. 7 years at $39M won't age well for the Rags |
