This is why i hate waiting for someone like this to make their decision. Miss out on the other options while you just sit around waiting. Bura/Marchment both off the board. I assume we turn to Palat or Nino Niederreiter if he goes to the isles? Cant imagine we look at Strome or Kadri, and Reilly Smith is already rumored to have some type of handshake agreement with Vegas. So theres not much left. Other than that its likely the trade route if we want to upgrade at the wing.

In regards to Gaudreau, Friedman says the Isles and Devils are in this, but the Flyers likely are not. Also said JGs agent reached out to the Bluejackets to see if they were interested. Trying to create a bigger market.

The wait is killing me. We’ll either have 1 ppg player (Hughes) or 2 next year and for years to come. I’d rather have 2. But wouldn’t Gaudreau-Hughes-Bratt be easy to push around? Or would they just manage to skate around everyone? We saw how punishing strong defenses can be in the playoffs. Maybe Bratt just plays with Nico. Sharangovich and Holtz have some size... not that size is everything.

Oh, then there’s that Mercer kid too. Another candidate for top 6 wing. But either of those guys could easily be on the 3rd line (Holtz, Mercer, sharangovich). Devils will almost have to move Johnsson if we bring in a top 6 winger. Holtz or one of the kids surly has to make the team, right?

This was a thought I has too. CBJ only has 12.9M in cap space and Laine doesn't have a contract yet. I don't think it'd be possible to keep Laine if Gaudreau gets anywhere near that contract offer lol.

JG isn't coming to NJ. If he wanted to, he'd have signed by now. He's holding out to see if Lou or the Flyers can make something happen. Could be wrong, but I highly doubt he's signing with the Devils at this point.

I'll lose all respect for him as a person if he signs in CBJ. Calgary's top line was the best in the league last year and they offered basically a supermax deal to resign him and he turned it down to be "closer to home". Columbus isn't closer to South Jersey than Newark, Philly or Long Island so he would just been yet another star player full of poop. If you just want the highest paycheck then say that. We'll respect someone a lot more than them playing mind games.

I wouldn’t lose respect for someone that chooses to make 3 more mil a year or whatever for several years. It’s hockey.. whether in Columbus or NJ. It’s playing a sport and making a living.

only good thing to take away from that is the flyers came out and said they're out. So him not saying anything is a possible good sign. Although I would assume that means no decision is happening today

Smith is a 7th d-man. He'll only see time if there's injuries. Haula is a pretty decent depth player, he was a good addition.
