Was going off the most recent rumoured offer. Friedman is now saying he thinks it’s 9..75x7. 16-17 million left on the table. |

Was going off the most recent rumoured offer. Friedman is now saying he thinks it’s 9.8x7. Far less. - Trevor_Neufeld_
Yeah it’s far less than the 12 MM AAV Seravalli mentioned.
Weird choice if you ask me. Columbus is a nice enough place with a decent entertainment district around the arena. But weird choice. Clearly had something to do with just going east and back to the US. |

I told you guys Gaudreau played like crap on purpose when he was split up from Monahan..it makes even more sense now.. (contract year he went beast mode) which explains why Sam Bennett reciprocated that with strong playoff performances, then disappeared during the regular season. I feel a little sorry for Bennett now - but it comes down to piss poor coaches and Brian Burke with his sad puppy narrative about Sam. |

If you account for keeping the age 35 year (retire a Flyer?) And taking less money (not correct when you accout for taxes) he really just wanted to get out of Canada. And it works out best considering trade offs v. Fam.
Toronto should be very nervous watching this. |

Seems clear it was wanting to go back anywhere in the eastern US. |

Don’t pull us into this crap
I know you want to make yourself feel better by saying Matthews will do the same but leave us out of this please. It’s 2022 and Gaudreau just left your team for CBJ. |

The border issue makes it twice as hard as it used to be to keep American born players. Hope he stays, Toronto deserves a Cup, but it is a real issue. |

Exactly, there was a post somewhere about Johnny's dad tweeting "It's been 888 days since we came to Calgary!". I think it was totally about western CANADA combined with the fact that he's becoming a father and wants to be in the USA, eastern region. Also, in thinking about it to any extent you can't blame him, at all. Having kids is hard, and if you don't have family nearby to help with the burden, it's torturous. Plus, just like any professional who is good at their craft, they go where they want (location, contract). No, I do not begrudge JH at all. Good luck in CLB, just not against the Flames. |

Duh… Jesus you’re dense. Columbus isn’t a Midwest state. It’s a city in Ohio. Which is in the east. Is Toronto in the East? Columbus is almost as far East. God you’re dumb. It’s on the right side of the border so his family can now easily visit.

Anyone actually from Ohio will tell you it's the Midwest. Take it from a long time Columbus resident. |

With Tkachuk likely leaving in a year as well, it's time to be rational and aim for a quick 2-3 years rebuild. We have the pieces to do it.
Send Tkachuk and Tanev to NJ for Bernier (cap dump), Johnsson (cap dump), Mercer, Nemec and their 2023 1rst round pick (unprotected).
Lindholm has perhaps the best non-entry value contract in the NHL (2 more years at less than 5M, can you believe it). Any contender would empty the farm to have him. Problem for Calgary is, he will likely cost 7-8M when he'll be up for his new contract.
Send Lindholm to NYR (50% retained) to play RW on the Panarin/Trocheck and get Reaves (cap dump), Kakko, Ohtmann and their 2023 1rst round pick (unprotected).
You keep Hanifin and Andersson as they're still young, under contract and will likely not break the bank on their next one.
You just added Mercer, Kakko and Othmann to Zary and Pelletier up front for prospect depth, and Nemec to an already young up and coming d-corps.
You've also got 3 1rst round picks in a strong draft, with a slim chance at drafting Connor Bedard.
You suck in 2023, 2024, but might very well be a force to reckon with from 2025-2030.
Yeah, I'm likely dreaming, I know. But I had been strongly advocating a rebuild 2 years ago when JG still had 2 years and Monahan was still an asset with value. Now I just feel we're in the same spot, but without less tools. |

I know what it’s called and I don’t give a (frank) because it doesn’t matter. I spend a ton of time there. If you draw a line down the middle of the country; it’s in the east. He wanted to be on the US side of the border closer to family. Now he is.

Happy to see Z was resigned but I honestly thought they would keep the right shot and tougher Gudbranson over Z. 4 X 4 in Columbus was probably too much term. Don't know much about Meloche but he was very physical at the dome when we hosted the Sharks in March.
I think we sign Mange but I have a feeling Kylington and Chucky are being shopped.

Yeah big Z looked pretty good under Sutter.
4X4 was a lot for Gudbranson, guess they need someone to stick up for JG.

someone on another board claimed to have a source, who claimed that JG complained about being treated bad for 2 years or the past two years (I could see how putting him on a line with Lucic was sketchy, separating him from Monahan) - fits with my character issue theory, we might have said good bye to a locker room problem
Another person claimed to be friends with a former manager at national on 10th - and claimed JG and Monahan spent a lot of time there 2016-18 - so wife driven decision?
Murry Edwards supposedly personally offered JG 10.5x8 |
