I could see Z as a 12/13 type just with his blend of size and skating ability. That and playing all 3 forward spots. But that's about it.
Those other guys, if we see them, I'd rather it be on a scoring line. But I feel like Sully will play guys like Archibald and McGinn over them.
DOC couldn't have reasonably been asked to do more, but as soon as some guys were healthy, he was either out or relegated to 4th line with guys that weren't going to generate much offense. He definitely should get a shot at third line with this roster. - Tojo.
I wanna see a little more of Pustinen to see if he can be a bottom 6 scoring threat. I agree with Doc, I think he would be good in the bottom 6 as well. |

Haha, hopefully he stays with Carter on the third line. Which barring injury to Rust or Rakell would probably be the case. At this point it would be dumb to trade a LD for cap space with nothing really to sign, any movement would have to be a player trade.
Edit: Forgot about Nino, I'd take him. But I'd only trade Dumo away to clear space for him. |

After signing Ruuta, even if they trade a defenseman, I still don't think they have enough space for a top 6 wing. Sadly I think that money will just go to Kapanen and maybe Larsson. We are likely about done. |

Yea it's damn tight. It would take moving Zucker and a LD, which won't happen. I'd rather have Nino than Zuck, but that's getting into NHL 22 category with the movement. (frank)ing sucks that we're gonna lose Petts to fit Kap and Larsson ffs. I don't even wanna lose Dumo for those 2..
Edit: Really hope they don't actually sign Larsson |

Looks like the Larsson signing fell through. CF had him on our roster for a day+ with no info, now he's gone lol |

Team was far better off not making any moves. I’ve said before that moving one of Dumo or Petts was a luxury, not a necessity. Signing Rutta and moving one of Dumo, Petts, or Marino makes the team worse, unless Hextall absolutely fleeces another GM. But if I’m a GM and I see the pens with 9 dmen on 1-way contracts, then I’m definitely low balling my offers. |

We'll like I said they only contract I'd dump at this point is Dumo to sign Nino, but I doubt that happens. |

IDK the bottom 6 as of now is pretty weak. Blueger is fine but Carter is another yr older and the wings are a bunch of fringe plugs..
Malkin and Zucker are made of glass.
If all they do now is make space for Kap on the 3rd I think this team is even worse than last years.
I wonder if this is what Letang signed up for when he took a cut to stay and compete? |

We'll Rakell is the difference. 9.5 +7.5 =17(Geno+Letang last year)6.1+6.1+5=17.2(Geno+Letang+Rakell) |

I agree with this mindset; however, when you also look at things a different way. Say you are a team looking for a LHD or even a RHD like Klingberg and you miss out on your guy but have the cap space and still need it filled. You are willing to trade for someone like Marino or Pettersson. Or if someone is wanting to trade a winger who is not meeting team expectations at say 2-3 million. Us trading Pettersson at 4 million or even Zucker at 5 may work for the other team. It only saves us a portion, but at the end of the day it still save us money. Or maybe he is looking into bigger trades with packaging a few salaries |

I think they all really believe in themselves. My impression from most of their post series losing interviews was that of shock that they were eliminated and that they weren't going to keep playing. They felt they were playing very good hockey...and they were...and should of advanced. Different vibe to it than other post elimination interviews since 2017.
Id say a few things went into Tangers decision and none of them had to do with the direction Hex might go with the team haha

Nah he’s right. It’s the middle of July, time to panic. No way the roster changes before training camp. |

I agree. His kids are there they arent babies so a move is tough and Pitt is actually a decent place once you're settled with a family.
But again, "Hey Hex I left money on the table and you go sign Ruuta? |

hahaha yeah so much time left before mid September...there are some perfect storm scenarios with a quality winger coming back, such as Garland from Van like Vick was saying. Perfect scenarios are rare though hahah. We shall see what happens.
At least for the perennial deadest hockey month of the year, August, we have World Jr's this year.

As 668710 stated though, the extra money keeps Rakell around full time...who by the way, was one of the top UFA wingers this year, but really believes in that locker room and its ability to win. Really wanted to come back after that short stint.

I know and I like Rakell but as of now they secured the top 6 at the expense at the bottom 6 it appears. I really wish Carter was not on the roster.

ERod and Heinen could still return. They’ve likely overestimated their markets. |
