He had 4 goals in the Islanders series as well. In 15 playoff games he's had 8 goals

He was also a -6 at 5v5 in the Rags series.

Nah. Old age and conditioning not made to last 82 games lol

Not a knock on him but just the honest truth.

That’s nice but we are talking about forwards.
- Feds91Stammer

Yes, my point was that when you have really good D you can get away with having a weaker bottom 6.

Yeah I dont have a lot of faith in him looking much better towards end of next season, either.

Unless I get Alzheimers I will never forget how that team looked for the first 3 or 4 mins after Sid went down, and Carter was placed on top line, in game 5 until the day I die. Just absolute sloppy chaos with 3 goals against in that time frame ffs hahah

I think Carter should be a solid bottom 6 RW with a scoring touch that can jump up in case of injuries but he's gotta work on that conditioning because he was absolutely gassed at the end of the season. Dude looked like he was skating in mud every game.

Yea that was bad. Carter needs to stay in the bottom 6.

Yeah I think he may of even mentioned his late season conditioning in one of the interviews, recognized it was an issue. Maybe he works on it and improves it....maybe haha. He is old but I keep in mind Matt Cullen turned 40 a few months after hoisting the cup in 2016 and was a good 4C for the Pens in that run.

haha I meant usage exactly because of his age. We had a few injuries and he had to step in many times, even as our 2nd line C. Coaching has to manage his time on the ice to keep his legs fresh.

Oh he did. He said it was different, but nothing too telling.

Cullen was also playing 14 minutes a night compared to Carter's 18.

Carter would probably be more effective in that 13-15 minute range.

Absolutely and that's why I said in an early post in this thread I think (and hope haha) he ends up as 4C or a winger.

It has nothing to do with fresh legs. He’s just not that good anymore and is below average is just about everything other than scoring goals.

No, you referenced the Islanders series. He wasn't injured but had a similar series save %. Not sure how you got confused there.

Even worse than that, he started off the season as a 1C playing 20 minutes per night and then went to 2C playing 19 minutes, that was the first half of his season.

That is the complete opposite of what is ideal for older players. You want to be able to slowly work them up in volume as the season progresses and I'm sure his offseason was designed around that.

Hey, it was a necessity this year for us to just make the playoffs. Hopefully we have all of our C's healthy this year and they are all fresh for the playoffs.

This was the first year Crosby looked super fresh for the playoffs in a long time. What was different? He missed the first month and they eased him in at about 18 minutes per game for his first month back playing.

For older players it is much harder to recover from early season over usage.

How do you guys feel about a Zucker-Blueger-Carter 3rd line?

Marino/Kapanen for sure if it's Boeser. Pettersson/Kapanen if it's Garland lol Off course we'd need to work on the salaries a bit here.

Poor Blueger. Finally promoted to 3C and he’s stuck with 2 bums.

I wouldn't call Zucker a bum. He's a gamer but overpaid by 2.5M I'd say lol Carter has a lot of experience and still produces alright numbers for a 3rd liner.
