If we have to give away players as a salary dump, why not get something for it? I do get it though I am unsure if I would do the trade myself. If we are stuck with losing someone for nothing or having to trade a pick to dump a LHD I understand why someone would want to do a trade like this. I heard Montreal is having a hard time dumping Petry as well. The defenseman market dropped off a bit from rumors.

Saw an interesting Cap dump proposal on another Penguins forum. They had Pettersson, Marino, Kapanen and POJ to Coyotes for Chychrun and Crouse.


I myself found it interesting. I don't like giving up POJ, but could see where Chychrun would take his spot while dumping some salary. We would also bring in Crouse who was previously brought up on this site by a few of us as a potential powerforward type fit. I kinda see him and Kap being a wash, but overall I didn't mind having him on board. He may even fit in well with Letang on the top pairing.

Chuchryn is much better than Marino but I think overall the D gets weaker going from Marino and Pettersson to Chuchryn and Ruhwedel which is the real comparison. I would rather sub Zucker in for Marino and add an extra prospect or pick to get it done.

I don't think they are having a hard time dumping him, I think everyone is at a standstill waiting for the first team to blink. Klingberg is out there too and hasn't been signed yet. I don't think it's because no one wants him.

I think chychrun would be a substantial upgrade. Especially next to Letang. He’s qot is weak af and qoc is quote a bit higher than marinos. Also he plays for Arizona his whole career so that skews his numbers as a whole.

That being said I couldn’t do a deal with him involving Marino. The right side is too weak. Wait till Letang misses a few games and RD is rutta, ruwh, and Friedman. That’s rough.

Unlike others are around here I'm content with Zucker. I wish he scored, but he plays a solid 200ft game, good speed and plays with an edge. Would I rather move him off the books? Absolutely, but I think he can be a useful player.
