Nashville just got one for free.

They got a right handed defenseman for free?
Or a left handed defenseman, that can play occasionally on the right side.

Stagflation is going to be so neat

Quite possible especially in the USA. China will really feel the US hurt. I think we could be ok in western Canada but Ontario will feel the US hurt again.

lol I do miss the smell of leaded fuel.

Have a Civic Si right now and a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang that needs to be restored...or sold. With your Buddies Biden and Trudeau the main cause of inflation...Musclecars don't make much sense now that I own properties again. Is what it is. #decisions.

This pains me to say, but I'd keep Myers for this season. There aren't any options available at RHD (unless a couple trades are made), and he's going to have a lot more value next summer for his last year after his 5 mil signing bonus is paid and his salary is only 1 mil.

Oh. The salary cap dump. I didn’t realize bloated contracts were “free” and no he is not a RHD

Those things undoubtedly made it worse, but printing a poop load of money during covid didn't exactly help cool inflation either.

Semantics. The point is that decent players can be had if you have good talent evaluators, and your salary cap situation is flexible enough to take advantage of opportunities.

Prove it. His advice stats show that he is a top 4, as does the eye test. He was better under Bruce than under Green as well.
- Retinalz

I don’t have to prove anything. Both yours and mine are opinions. BUT…

Tyler Myers is a middle of the road defenseman on the “advanced stat” scale. He doesn’t hold a candle to Jonás Siegenthaler or Darnel Nurse, but he’s much better than Erik Gusgranson or Noah Dobson.

As far as the eye test. He doesn’t defend well against the rush, ends up on his stomach flailing his stick too often because he isn’t quick enough to keep up a speedy winger going wide. He doesn’t defend well in front of the net, he’s too slow, guys have an easy time pushing off and creating space for open looks. He isn’t very good at making an outlet pass - off the boards and out, and while in the past he’s had decent offensive instincts, his offensive abilities are diminishing, like what happened to Edler.

Obviously I don’t actually think he should have to pay to play (like beer league), or that he’s actually the worst defenseman in the league.

You guys are slurping this up like Nighthawk’s secret burger sauce.

I wouldn't call it semantics. I said RHD are the hardest players to find and the least likely to acquire.
Although, the Avalanche did give up a beauty, in Barron, but they also have a cup to show for it.

Yet despite all of this he wound up a +15, while playing tough shutdown minutes on a mediocre team.

You may want to recalibrate your eye test and find another place to get your fancy stats.

Tyler Myers contract really isnt as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. More so in this market. Should he be getting 6m a year? Probably not, no. But look at it this way.

Imagine this scenario. Myers had signed a 4 year contract somewhere else previously and put up the exact same numbers for them as he did for us. He is now a UFA. Our team is exactly the same as it is now and we are in even more dire need of a right side D. We just see Gudbranson pick up a 4 x 4. Things look really bleak and then we sign Myers to a 2 year deal for 6M a year. - Which is what he has left for us now.

That starts to seem like its much more fair than if you are just looking across the roster at who isnt pulling their contract weight. Sure he probably gets paid a bit more than he should, but at the moment his contact is not anywhere near as bad as it gets talked up to be.

Exactly.
Covid and Ukraine had impact but ultimately aren't the main causes as MSM would have us all believe. But, Sheep will be sheep.

many of the things that resulted in the mess we are in were in motion pre-covid (during) and pre-war as well. Is what it is.

Did Dhaliwal ask about Miller not wanting to play in Canada or that he & Pouty hate each other?

I don’t think he asks questions about things dumb fans make up, but I could be wrong

Trading either is a mistake. Myers has positive value around the league. Just look at what a significantly worse Gudbranson got as a big RHD.
OEL needs to solidify our 2LD for a couple more years until someone younger beats him out for it.

Our best option for the next 5 years is to trade Garland for Marino or Carlo, sign Miller and Horvat to extensions and get rid of Pearson, Poolman(LTIR him with migrain issues?) and Richardinson next off season.

- Retinalz

Gudbranson had 6 goals 11 assists last year + he fights, kills penalties @ 2 mil
Myers had 1 goal, 17 assists + he turns the other cheek, kills penalties @ 6 mil

You guys are stuck with that 15 mil 2nd pairing unless you send assets with them.
Get over it!

He plays both sides, is a very good defender to be considered a dump(maybe in a couple years). They also gave back Myers who is basically Poolman(overpaid bottom pair) I would have taken McDonough for Poolman, happily.
