The Canucks were 18th in goals for and 25th in goals against. That's why we brought in a guy like Mickey. It's as much about preventing as it is scoring. Our goalie is the only player we had last year that was really good at preventing.

Unless I've missed a key element to goals against like 5v5 or after a certain period during the season, which I doubt it because you got the goals for right.

They're both 30 goal scorers. Horvat younger. Has way more positive energy around him with coaches, gm's, players fans and media. Probably a better deal in most GM's eyes...

Like I said, probably a better deal in the eyes of most GM's. That doesn't necessarily mean better player. They offer different qualities.

Question is how is Rutherford going to fix the transition play of Van's D? So they spend less time defending and more time on offence. 8th best at keeping goals out and a horrid PK included in that but that doesn't mean they need to defend all the time.
