I don’t see a debate between which C stays or goes or who is better or has better value etc as important.
What is important is having 3 C’s depth & what they each bring to the table. That is a strength every team would want. Keeping all 3 is best for the importance to contend if it can be done. If 1 is moved another would be needed to fill the hole. At this time there is not a prospect in the system that projects to fill that hole. Adding wingers has deepened our depth. D will take time &/or imaginative & creative trades or drafting. |

Question is how is Rutherford going to fix the transition play of Van's D? So they spend less time defending and more time on offence. 8th best at keeping goals out and a horrid PK included in that but that doesn't mean they need to defend all the time. - manvanfan
That has been my concern all along. Running the same D & adding Rathbone will give us more insight. The PK is fixable & looks to be more optimistic now. |

Faber and quadrelli trying to poke through. Young and inexperienced though. Faber has the rose coloured glasses on for guys he becomes buddy buddy with. - manvanfan
Many don’t like Ferraro but he’s brutally honest. Not saying him but less pandering is needed. |

As I read from one comment over there, they are much improved from the Canuck way days. |

Ideally you'd like a youngish guy to step up with some charisma. Then you have slurpers like f*cking Drance. The worst ever though was Andrew Walker.

He has been the queen of the scream queens for a long time, I think that is why Lefty adores him. |

I like Ray, he needs charisma though. Someone like Bieksa, an ex player with a good sense of humor.

IMac disgusts me. Acts like the mouth of the Canucks & has certain thing about him that galls me.
Yes a youngish fresh face but has to have the conviction to play good cop & bad cop if objective & applicable. Charisma & flair that doesn’t care about popularity or how many twit followers etc |

True but I find his takes are genuine & he pulls no punches. He’s like a lifer Canuck fan who doesn’t accept mediocrity. Oops not many of those lol |

New age Al Davidson & Neil Macrae type. This generation wouldn't be able to handle it. The stations would have to back them up, which would never happen nowadays.

He’s real & yes could use some polish but he wouldn’t be himself then. He talks like the player he was & won’t change. That got him to the show & he’s still in it on the media side. |

Having better D would help. Have to look also at forwards to aid in D transitioning.
OEL isnt/wasnt much of a shot blocker and neither is Hughes. A cheap 3rd pair guy would be a good pick up. I don't see Dermott doing it or Rathbone. Calvin De Haan comes to mind as a possibility. |

Lets give BB a fresh start & camp to instill his system. Yes team D needs to improve. More team speed in transition would follow. The D still has to improve on break outs for it all to work. |

There are obviously the Hughes/Makars/Heiskanens of the Defensive world that are one man breakouts but for the majority, they need help from the forwards. D need to make smarter plays but forwards need to make it easier on them as well. |

My D pairings to try out…
Hughes/OEL
Dermott /Myers
Rathbone/Schenn
Either of Hughes or OEL plays their offside or as the shift flows. Poise from OEL & doesn’t hinder Hughes is my reasoning.
2nd pairing has to be more straight up & not try to do too much. Experimental & a bit scary but worth a try.
3rd pairing I like to allow Bones to use skating & offensive flair & Schenn have his back & be the bruiser. Sheltered minutes but more when they play well. Bones moves up to 2nd pairing if behind & offence needed. 2nd PP also.
Summary: if either Hughes or OEL can play solid as RD then a LHD for top 4 could be added. More of them. Bones can develop into top 4 which would mean OEL would have to be a top 4 RD & Myers become better rounded. The hunt for top 4 D is endless. |

Hence more speed on F’s. Miky helps there. Lockwood should as he grows into his role. More & more team speed will slow down ops pressure. |

The forwards being in bad positions, breaking out of zone for breakaway pass being flatfooted and sometimes not being able to recieve a pass, has caused many of the poor breakouts.
The fans then turn around and blame Myers for dumping the puck out, when it was the only play available. |
