Pilut is waiver exempt for 5 more NHL games. Might hurt his chances to make the team out of camp.

Good catch Lunaion, thanks for the info.

If Okposo would have been made C awhile back, would the Eichel situation turned out differently. Was to much handed to a very talented player but not a very mature one.

That's all cap friendly. I thought he had enough games, but never really looked into it.

Doubtful, I don't think he has the right attitude to be a leader, very very good player but not a leader

It's a good thing for the team, maybe not for him. But I would think he knows it.

I think that if he isn't good enough to beat out the Brysons of the Fitzgeralds of the world that time in the minors won't help him anyway. I bet he sticks.

I'd say not much. C wouldn't change the dynamic a lot. Okposo was a very quiet leader and Eichel knew it was his team.

I mean would the locker room have been different. I mean it has been said under Eichel's C that the locker room wasn't a fun place. A different attitude could have led to better overall play.

I feel like he might have resented KO and the outcome would have been the same. He's still an immature f**k years later.

I don’t understand the dislike for the current state of the Sabres.

They are holding firm to a very reasonable and logical plan, which is self- grown respectability.

Buffalo being a smaller market team has to take this route, or risk taking the Murray route and flash-building by overspending assets.

Next year they may flirt with a wildcard. The year after they’ll flirt with the top 3 in the devision.

Teams who have long term success tend to have a bit of luck with building from within and having high draft pick with a couple late picks meeting expectations, with a few quality signing to round it out.

Nothing wrong with what Detroit is doing. But Buffalo has a better pool to develop at this time and that’s a fair route to take

Probably, it just seems to me that Okposo is not vociferous leader maybe, but he seems like a guy who could have shut the door on the attitude very quickly.

7th D is always an awkward decision and waivers usually factor in. That guy won't be playing much hockey and you can just call up exempt guys when needed.

Fitz and Clague are not exempt. Pilut is. I'd imagine those are the 3 likely options, right now.

If he takes the job from Bryson, that makes for an easy decision.

They are building, they will have a plethora of prospects coming through the system. A very young team with ? around it. Doesn't mean with the assets they had that they could not make 1 big move that would not have really hurt anything other than Terry's Check Book. Think most people like the direction the team is going in.

Yea but any trade they make is “Tim Murraying” the roster. Regardless of who the player is, any trade ever is now a Tim Murray blunder.

I could see not going after some of these players in a usual cap year. But the prices paid for some of these players was pretty cheap. With the assets the Sabres had, it was a good year to jump in the game.

They have no need to make trades or large FA signings at this time. They do have the young makings of a top 9 forward group and top4 defense core, and in 1-2 years adding a large FA to compliment would have large returns. However at this time, it would likely be a waste of money and ice time.

Detroit has holes to fill
Buffalo has spots to grow into. Next 1-2 years it will be obvious how the young talent has developed and then they can address by FA
