Had we not signed Comrie, we were trading for Stolarz.
- TheSabresTaco

They should've gotten both imo.

Although I guess part of convincing comrie to sign might be that there is absolutely no scenario where Anderson steals his job.

Stolarz might have.

comrie was not just a jet prospect

he bounced from the yotes to wings to devils before he came back to the jets

Why would they, just drop Asplund down
- Buff36

Idk if weā€™re talking about 2 different things here?

I thought we were talking about keeping Okposo,
and in do so, that would block someone from coming up

I donā€™t think thatā€™s the case, as Okposo (generally) plays a role on our ā€œdefensiveā€ line, and we wouldnā€™t be putting one of the kids in his position whether we kept him or not

Asplund is also on our ā€œdefensiveā€ line imo,
with Girgs as well
So i donā€™t really see him mattering much either,
at least not as far as bringing the kids up is concerned

I think he has like 4 games combined from those other teams. Stolarz and Comrie are both small sample heroes with upside.

Id have liked both, if possible.

Haven't heard it reported in a lot of places but Comrie's back story is pretty interesting. He's the son of the founder of The Brick retail chain in Canada. Eric wouldn't have needed to work a day in his life if he didn't want to but he's stuck with it because he wants to be a #1. Good for him.

When has Asplund played on are Defensive line, I would say he basically floated between line 2 and 3. So if Quinn or Peterka do make the team it would in my opinion Asplund dropping to line 4 so either Okposo or Girgensons go. So Okposo staying Could block someone.

Thats true, although its easier to stick with it when you've got that kind of nest egg. Lots of players are forced to move on cause, well, gotta eat.

Bill sold the brick for a cool 700 mil in 2012. not a bad for a former junior hockey guy.

Did a lot of back reading, People think we will be the next Tampa (outlier) and it wonā€™t be like every other team where prospects fall short.

Tampa is the only team to run a gauntlet like this.

Hell were not even close to Pittsburgh, Colorado, Toronto.

3 drafted stars and a bunch of garbage after that.

Everyone seems convinced that draft and develop will 100% win a cup though and no other moves are necessary.

I havenā€™t seen one post on here that said to draft and develop and make no other moves .

Cool story though

If he isn't finding a long term deal that suits his needs, wonder if Kadri would take a deal similar to what Hall signed two offseasons ago -- a very high AAV for 1 year with a limited NMC so he could pick where he wants to go at the deadline.

Sabres have the cap space to make that move in the short term and could recoup some assets by retaining salary if they don't opt to keep Kadri as their own "rental" for a playoff push of their own.

Not getting hopes up at all but seems like a reasonably low risk move with a moderate to high reward if Kadri can be convinced.

If they're going for Kadri, I'd like to see 2 years, at least. I can't stand the "sign the guy for 60 games" deal. It's almost like, why bother? But I get what you're saying.
