Am I missing something?
All.was well the past 31 games , right?
Weren't we a playoff team over the past 40% games the sabres played?
Were we just lucky?
I really can't see anyone regressing terribly, more progression if anything. Hopefully healthy - Boss34
it's wonderful they played well once eliminated from the playoffs
I drank the kool aid in the past and got the runs for 2/3 of the next season a few times so I am reserved at this point
side note, no truth the sabres are in on phil despite what Ek says |

They actually started playing much better once they added Tuch (duh). Not playoff good or whatever but, enough that better goaltending/shooting talent might have resulted in a few more wins. |

Samuelsson being added and Dahlin having a come to Jesus moment when he was named an All Star helped too. |

I think we are discounting the impact of Samuelsson, Power, Quinn (potentially) and Peterka (potentially) being here from start to finish as well.
Development can happen over time or all at once, the Sabres even with the lack of additions could easily surprise this year and be in the race if the #1 prospect pool in the league performs like it next year.
Am I expecting the young guys to provide meaningful contributions year one, realistically no. However, it is not impossible.
I think Cozens is primed to explode this year and his individual improvement is being discounted, while Krebs’ underlyings at 5v5 can’t get any worse and he’s proven to be a weapon on the PP. |

Yeah those two as well. Obviously can't set expectations based on what they did in April (results were insane but maybe 3 teams cared what happened) but you certainly can from January onward.
Looking back at the month to month 5v5 play, December and April are the major outliers (negative and positive). I think they finished the year about where they were supposed to. Somewhere between league avg and bottom third, but closer to the latter cause of goaltending.
Now you gotta see how Comrie and the ELC gang can build on that. |

When you hand pick the number of games to include to make it look good or bad, you're always misleading a bit. There's a reason you're saying 31 games and not the second half.

They play all 82 games for a reason, all of them count the same. I’m also not one to hang their hat on recency bias, but I think it is relative to note there was no Tuch the first chunk of the season and it took 20 games for Dahlin to knock the rust off.

If he’s good you keep him. If he’s bad you add him in a package to a team that thinks he can be good |

36, screw him dude.
He's a very judgmental person and has revealed himself to us over the past 24 months.
Don't let him bother you. People like him confuse being active with happiness. I find many of them to always be chasing happiness, but never being actually happy.
If you are happy, it is all that matters.
Keep on keeping on brother. - IonSabres

Just find it intentionally misleading to focus on a stretch of hockey right after a 6 game losing streak. Most teams played playoff hockey for their best stretch of the season. |

the last 6 games vs playoff teams
the sabres were 1-5
beat the leafs
lost to canes, panthers, bolts, blues and bruins
in those 6 games
outscored 27-13 |

So what to make of Kulich. He has nothing left to prove overseas, gonna be interesting to see if the Sabres think Rochester or Cape Breton is better for his development. |

Disagree on Ostlund. Dude needs to grow into his body before the AHL.
I’m warming up to that pick though. |

For as cheap as he's predicted(1 for $2M or 2 x $3.5M) it would be a good move. He still ended up with 52 points last year for Arizona. That's a bargain for that production |

skinner,tage,tuch
casey, krebs, olofsson
peterka, cozens, quinn, asplund
that's 10 for the top 9 already

Rochester or back to the Cezch league imo.
Already playing against men and doing quite well, don’t think he needs to go play in the crappy QMJHL |
