Everyone seems convinced that draft and develop will 100% win a cup though and no other moves are necessary.

When has Asplund played on are Defensive line, I would say he basically floated between line 2 and 3. So if Quinn or Peterka do make the team it would in my opinion Asplund dropping to line 4 so either Okposo or Girgensons go. So Okposo staying Could block someone.

Asplund played on the top9 last year bc we didn’t have the talent to put up there
Quinn & Peterka, & Rosen & then Savoie are “top9” talents though
None of those guys will play on our “defensive” line

However,
Asplund actually does have the ability to slot into a role on the defensive line
And he has limited offensive upside
So Asplund filling a tile on that defensive line makes all the sense in the world

Don’t take too much from last years lines
They were constantly a mess
Okposo was even in the top6 frequently

But i just don’t see any of that moving forward

Asplund-Girgs-Okposo is our current defensive line imo
So if Okposo is extended, i don’t think it would block anyone

A few things with Weeger:

1- does FLA even trade him?
I think Duclair starts the year on LTIR, and they well could have other injuries in camp as well- so they may not have to move anyone. And if they do move someone, it may not be him

2- BUT if we are going to assume he gets moved,
I’m certainly not willing to give up much for him with the uncertainty of whether or not he’d extend or not here

3- So what would i give up for him?
One of our extra 2nds we have next year, & add a “b” level prospect, someone like Sardarian, Bloom or Nadeau- all drafted last year in 3rd or 4th round

I don’t think I’d do anything more than that though


And I think Florida tries hard not to move him
