hearing the donnie story on cozens at the draft and prospect camp is one more reason why I think casey is the first to get phased out
I see cozens more as a Anthony Cirelli type shut down guy, and that is fine as we have 3 other centers to take the second line slot - homiedclown
I see him in more of a Drury-like 2way role,
just not quite yet
We could see that transition start to happen this season though- especially if we aren’t planning on bringing back Okposo &/or Girgs when their contracts are up |

flip side
don't say you can't get a long term goalie because you don't want to block an unsigned prospect
and while doing that, possibly blocking either peterka or quinn by retaining and not trading any of the guys up front on a team that finished 24th in scoring
if it was a constant message, fine but it's not - homiedclown
He went after Gibson, which would’ve been long term
Gibson said no
No need to live off of a sound byte
Adams isn’t gonna lay his whole plan out through the media |

I would like to Sabres to take a flyer on Phil Kessel. He is a scorer - hehateme
🤮🤮🤮
And idk how much of a scorer he is anymore
8 goals last year, in 82 games
And he turns 35 to start next season
Don’t want his crappy attitude he’s been known to have around the kids either
Dude got banished to Arizona for a reason |

That's fair, everyone's got different criteria for both writing off and anointing. |

I think Mittelstadt has a higher level of skill with a broken motivator while Cozens undoubtedly has better speed and intangibles. Cozens has the floor but I still think Mittelstadt has the ceiling if he can put it all together.
I like both of them for the record; I just think the narratives have spun out of control a little bit to this point |

I’m with ya here Hank. Haven’t seen enough of a healthy fatty. Get him some hotdogs, put him on the wing and we may have a mini-Phil… he has shown a couple flashes and Gerbe has said he put some time in last offseason. Just bad luck with the injuries.
As for Cozens, kid just needs more time.
This season should be fun to watch them both and some others.
Last year was just make it fun hockey to watch.
This year is make it fun hockey to watch and let’s have some meaningful games in February…. Maybe March! |

Well said. I don't get the constant desire to draw conclusions on people. It isn't like Mitts is similar to Nylander, a guy who never ever ever showed a thing. Would it surprise anyone if Mitts put it all together?

For me it's less about the narrative and more about that I don't believe he has that higher level of skill everyone else does. It's never once translated into production or on ice impact at any level other than high school. His even strength primary pt totals in the ushl were markedly worse than Josh Norris' who got taken 11 picks after.

His hands are unreal (don't @ me) and he shows bursts of breakaway speed despite his limited endurance. I'm usually team speed but I really think this kid has another gear we haven't seen yet.
His development was utterly (frank)ed due to forces outside of his control (ROR trade) and then he got Krueger'd. |

They're separated by something like 0.03 pts per game and have similar xgf/xga totals, although granted nylander is rarely up long enough for a valid sample size. |

To each his own on Mittelstadt. I think there's still more there, but maybe not. We'll see. |

I still remember seeing this as a child and losing my mind. Must've practiced it every day for a month after
Idk, maybe they seem something there, I figured they would have moved on by now if they didn't. |

I probably like Mittelstadt more than is rational because he tucks his jersey in the back and the refs never ask him to untuck it despite the rules prohibiting tucking.
Tucked jerseys look objectively good. |

Important objective of this season is finding out about Mitzy. He’s not worth much in a trade right now, so play him at C, play the pig on the wing, let him on a PP and a PK. See if he can be Meatball’d.
Really want to see UPL get at least 25 games too. |
