Should the Sabres try for Tkachuk or is he also too old?
- ImThatGuy

Do you think he would sign here long term?

I think you're overreacting to the eichel "injury"

Most players / agents know for themselves, that eichel forced the trade and used the injury to facilitate the trade.

He's a d!ckbag, its out in the open

- Boss34

I don't expect objectivity on Eichel, but the team looked really bad throughout the process. If they would do that to their franchise player, they'd have no problem doing it to me.

53pt overpayment or a
19pt overpayment

- Buff36

Girgensons type stats

Prior to last season:
Andrew copp 411 gp 61 goals 98 assists
Zem girgensons 489 gp 61 goals 73 assists

And you're upset we didnt give copp 28 million

Take a look at those numbers and tell me you want that guy at 3 times girgensons salary and 5 more years šŸ˜€

Eric Francis today on 101 ESPN in St. Louis said that he expects a possible Matthew Tkachuk trade to be wrapped up within the week. He said it was clear to him the two are parting ways.

Wow.

- ImThatGuy

Damn...Calgary going through their own Drury/Briere saga.

Sort of.

Tkachuk is definitely a great player. Iā€™d love to have him on our roster but he might feel differently.

I disagree, its business.

You were and continue to be the only one who brings this up.

The Sabres did absolutely nothing wrong. Objectively and 100% factually. Everything was in writing.

Eichel wanted his way, everyone sees that except you.

You mean the franchise player that asked out every season he was here.... after being given 10+ mill a year. The Captaincy. Any coach or player he wanted(or didn't want).. The guy who said he had never heard our arena loud till the game we beat his a$$. You mean that franchise player?

Multiple players have come out against Eichel. The whole league knows he a douche.

2021-21 nhl save percentage

comrie .920
6k .917

anderson .897

- homiedclown

Andersonā€™s was up & down all season long with his consistency
That could be due to the young team in front of him, as well as his age & him just wearing down-
bc he was extremely streaky in the last month of the season

Hopefully he can give us a good first half of the year or so, and at some point UPL is deemed as ā€œreadyā€ and can come up & take on a roll here

Itā€™s obviously not an ā€œidealā€ situation
But with UPLā€™s injuries, itā€™s been hard to work him into the lineup

By next year, the obvious hope would be that weā€™d feel A LOT more confident in a Comrie/UPL tandem than we did about the Anderson/Tokarski one

The Sabres donā€™t have established NHL goaltending

Thatā€™s on the Sabres. Itā€™s no one elseā€™s fault.

The excuses are old

- sbroads24

Craig Anderson has been in the league for 20 years, that's pretty damn established IMO

Both sides looked bad. I'm not even arguing who looked worse, just that the team's rep was already bad and took another hit.

Iā€™m not disagreeing with you, but at the same time Iā€™m not losing sleep about picking top 10 again this year and still having salary cap flexibility next offseason.

There is no scenario that Buffalo is a legitimate contender next year, zip.

Would it be nice to break the drought ? Absolutely.

Would be cool to win a Stanley Cup too and if that takes another top 10 pick and another year of patience, so be it

Over & done with at this point
And it seemed pretty unavoidable as well
Eichel wanted out- we moved him

Been more than enough time that we should all move along

Could it be that this roster, as it stands right now could end up being a better team, with players improving; yet they finish about the same?
Seems to me several Eastern teams have made some nice adjustments

Here's a hypothetical -

Let's say the Sabres had let Eichel get his surgery, and that he would have been true to his word and played for the Sabres again to prove he's healthy. If he had the same season with Buffalo that he had with Vegas (25p in 34gp), do the Sabres do any better in a trade than they did?

I'm not at all sure sure they do any better.

In some ways, his future is still a massive unknown

Unrelated post.

Injury prone and canā€™t win the big game are 2 phrases that while might be merited mean absolutely nothing to me.

Anybody else have a sports phrase like that?
