I never agree with this guy, and he probably deserves a ban for patronizingly calling man and women kiddos.

But yeah, (frank) eichel. Eichel is a female genitalia.

- Mentalorgasm5

Sure he is but again, Eichel did nothing wrong

Peca was the best captain in Sabres history whose career high for us was 56 points. If this is Dylans ceiling, points wise, leadership and intangibles, it's an absolute win for this franchise.
- The_Inkwell

Cozens is already one of the fastest players in the league and one of the better transitional players in the league.

His points will depend on the wingers that he has to capitalize on his possession and rush chances.

He would have hit 50 this year if they gave him PP1 minutes and better wingers.

He’s only going to get better, he was great at the world championships with other bonafide top 6 talent

Why would you want a better players than Girgs when you could just extend Girgs?

To be fair to Girgensons, he is a great 4th line winger.

Sold defensive impacts and I bet cup contenders will be calling us at the deadline for him to do exactly that.

Honest question,
Is he a driver of play, or benefactor of others diving?
I ask because his production zoomed after his trade to the Rangers, so I assume the Quality of Linemate was a significant factor in his rise.

Your point total is almost always driven up or down by the team you play on and your usage. Copp's on ice impact has always been good, trade to the rangers just meant more people were cashing in on his work.

The age I am, seeing both peca and Drury. I'd take Drury as a captain over peca.

It was mostly a joke. Obviously want to see them make a better effort to improve next off-season, but if Girgs is back on the 4th line don't really care. If Rousek took his spot, that would be a lot more interesting. Don't want to overpay a LOG line forever.

Never said I was upset, said he could have helped, and he's a better Hockey player than Girgensons, so I probably would have thought about it.
- Buff36

Subjectively, you seemed pretty upset around here.

28+ million for a slightly better girgensons #'s until last year.

Paying him 3x girgensons, he's not that good.
And probably isnt bring the Z train leadership either ☝️

If Tkachuk were willing to sign long term in Buffalo, that is the exact player you move picks and prospects for.

Elite player and the perfect age.

That’s a guy you sell the farm for no doubt

My two guesses at the cost of a trade for an extended Tkachuk are:

2023 1st, Quinn, Samuelsson

OR

2023 1st, Quinn, Kulich

I’d like to keep Samuelsson here.

I think he’s going to be the Hjalmarsson/McDonagh type important part to a cup blue line when he’s 38 and the Sabres decide to try and win

Sure, I get that to an extent, but his G production was significantly increased.
He scored 60% as many goals with the Rags while only playing 30% as many games compared to The Peg...all the while his ATOI fell by 13%-ish. That would tell me his QoLm was a significant factor, and his QoC decreased.

I don't see Girg's production increasing so significantly, since his QoC likely wouldn't decrease as radically, being a 4th liner and all.

To wrap it up, Copp on Sabres perhaps wouldn't produce as well as the boost he got on the Rags.

I could be completely wrong in all this though.

Oh you meant the goal scoring specifically? That's a small sample but we could just be looking at a well timed boost in shooting percentage. Historically, it's been one of his weaknesses.

The value they would've gotten from Copp wouldn't have been the point totals, since that's not where he does his best work anyways. Although, with the right line mates, you'd see a similar bump in assists.

He has strong play driving numbers at even strength despite some pretty heavy usage. That can be very valuable and provide a lot of flexibility throughout the lineup. Like a better Asplund.

Not sure if you saw earlier, or maybe I missed it, but why is he worth double what Stone got in a reasonably similar situation?

Copp > asplund = 28+ million

I think they throughly overpaid for copp.
Glad it wanst the Sabres.

I get wanting a guy as a free agent to make your team even slightly better, but he's an anchor contract

He's been in the Selke voting 3yrs in a row, and hopefully with the talent he would be playing with he could get better. Girgensons is who he is, 4th line plug in for 13min a night.

I think they paid market rate, It's not really an anchor though. His reputation is built on having strong intangibles so even if the points fluctuate, the contract can be moved if it needs to be.
