Well Calgary does have the worst arena in the league. Council f'd them over reneging on that deal. Mixed with 2 star players wanting to play in or near home and generally not in Canada.

If Gaudreau stays I think Matt takes hard long look at staying as well. Once Johnny was gone there is no reason for Matt to stay.

You confused Makar with Byram.

I can only see him getting better from here on out, Couturier put up the #'s Cozens just put up for 6 seasons. Few of those seasons Couts was injured so if Dylan can stay away from that crap he'll progress greatly

A lot of bad bounces his way last year. Few go in and hes a 20 goal scorer

Backes scored at a career .58ppg which is 48 pts over 82. I could see it.

Since we are on the Tkachuk discussion, assuming that he agrees to an 8 year sign and trade to come to Buffalo and assuming the package costs something along the lines of Quinn/JJ, 2023 1st (protected of course), Olofsson/Mitts etc.

Does the Sabres organization have the depth down the middle to be a legit contender with Tage, Cozens (assuming he isn't traded), Savoie, etc.?

The one major missing piece in my opinion is having either a true #1 center or even having that 1A/1B type the Sabres had with Drury/Briere.

Yes we need talent and grit which no doubt Tkachuk certainly has, but the lack of high caliber centers is the one piece (besides goalie) that the Sabres must get.

Eichel trade is going to be comparable. Tkachuk better, but Eichel had term already.

We don't really have anything comparable to Tuch to offer. Olofsson is probably the best bet there, but he has no term and goes to UFA next season i believe

Cozens is probably the key piece. Then a strong prospect. Probably Peterka. Buf 1st rounder top 5 protected or something. Then probably one more piece. A 2nd rounder, or a B tier prospect.

Would be pricey, but I'd do it.

Edit: I'd also only do it if I had permission to agree to an extension beforehand too
