Seems to me that certain posters on this board would love the Sabres to be very much like Vegas…. - jdfitz77
Lol apparently trade for Debrincat while being 20 mil below the floor is equal too trading for Jack Eichel who puts you 10 mil over the cap.
Gotta love the exaggeration.

Bishop was their most significant addition of the off-season. We all know why, but it's still tough to watch it happen.

I said before the draft that the payroll for next season will be between 62 and 65 mill, as of now it's 62.5 |

It was easy to see the signs. Would be a lot more palatable if that 62.5 was for actual players.
Can also see the signs for something very similar the following season.

I agree with you, whole thing is crazy IMO but what can we do, just hope for a good team next year I guess. |

Discount double check players. Cheap talent with decent analytics.

Not sure how one can watch this and make the conclusion this guy is a 3rd liner at the age of 21 after playing one full 82 game season

He has a high ceiling. It’s whether the scoring follows.
He’s already a 40 point middle six two way center. There’s almost no chance he doesn’t build on that |

Considering Drake Cagguila and rookie Peyton Krebs were his two LW’s for a majority of the year and the lack of PP time I’d say there is more than meets the eye then the 38 points he put up this year.
I’ve stated my case a few pages back, give him two legitimate top 6 caliber wingers for a full 82 and he will break 50 points next year. |

Dahlin and Tage extensions could say a bit different.
Who else would be up for a payday?
And does Kevyn hand out any contracts with 4 or more years on it? |

Dahlin is the following season, and the excuse not to spend (along with Power).
Bishop + Girgs (or an Okposo pay cut) pays for Tage. Cozens, Asplund, and Samuelsson need new deals, but likely they all get bridges. Internally, it's pretty close to another floor team....unless KA goes wild and starts gambling with long term deals. |

Crazy to see the quality still out there in free agency because so many teams have crummy cap situations.
I can’t see the salary cap having any meaningful increases the next few years.
I’m not advocating for a team that spends just over the cap floor, but I do at least respect the fact that they are conscience about having a healthy cap situation and the flexibility to do quite really anything the next couple of years. As we have seen, you never know whom will be available to acquire when the time is right |

I think the reality is that the pandemic hit them hard and they are choosing to save $ on a team that isn't designed to compete for anything.

this probably isn't anywhere near enough
Eichel trade is going to be comparable. Tkachuk better, but Eichel had term already.
Eichel + 3rd
Tuch, Krebs, 1st, 2nd
We don't really have anything comparable to Tuch to offer. Olofsson is probably the best bet there, but he has no term and goes to UFA next season i believe
Cozens is probably the key piece. Then a strong prospect. Probably Peterka. Buf 1st rounder top 5 protected or something. Then probably one more piece. A 2nd rounder, or a B tier prospect.
Would be pricey, but I'd do it.
Edit: I'd also only do it if I had permission to agree to an extension beforehand too - robz228
To CGY Tuch, Krebs, Ostlund 2nd
To BUF Tkachuk and a 3rd
Just figured Tuch is pretty comparable to Tuch |

You hope people go to the games, as well as the team improves, so the pegulas are inclined to spend money |

doesn't matter to me if they go, Pegula is the one that should be worried. Can't keep rebuilding years after years, yes I said years. We have been rebuilding since the embarrassment of Briere and Drury. |

I wouldn't say that, it's just some wanted to see a player added in the top 6.Huge difference between what the Sabres are doing compared to the Knights. - SABRES 89
No, they wanted a lot more than that
And they complain EVERY TIME another team makes a move- bc they wanted us to do it |

Actually,
the specific move being discussed was Tkachuk
And that is very similar to trading for DeBrincat
Gotta love how u follow along though |

I meant it rhetorically. Us as fans should hope we're putting a good product on the ice so people show up and they're willing to sign off on that big piece next year |
