They decided to undress Pauline to dress Paul when they traded Romanov. Yes, they do get a d while trading Petry, but they were already missing one.
Like you said, playoffs won't be an option for a while, habs have no cap space, so Wideman in the top 4 might be it. - deadpoulet
Except we have alot of young LHD coming up in the next few years, some might even be NHL ready next season.
We didn't have much coming at the centre position. We filled a need by trading from an area of strength. |

No I meant he wouldn't tell ME he disagreed with Bergevin.
Not that he didn't have his say in the meeting. - Scabeh
ohh, right. I wonder if Hughes and Gorton plan on keeping him around moving forward, or if they'll eventually replace all of Bergevin's staff with their own...

Or watch him walk away for the payday he desperately wants and get nothing out of it. - Mashadar
Yeah ... I'd rather stay away from PLD, let other teams deal with him. |

it's a very different context though as a goalie for Primeau compared to the young defensemen... goaltenders usually don't have a lot of margin of error, their mistakes become instantly obvious, whereas dmen can cover up some of them. but I get what you're saying, they need to be developed properly, not just thrown to the wolves. |

Had a pro photographer session with my Bernese Mountain Dog this morning! He’s 2.5 years old, 125lbs, a tank and literally stops traffic and pedestrians. He has such good manners and is SO well trained!
I hope to share the photos with the group here if I can learn how to do so. But will also be starting an Instagram account for my boy Jagger.
I’ve lost my job and unsupported by the insurance companies for disability and have decided to surround myself with good/great people doing what I’ve always wanted to do!!
I wish I knew how to post a pic here to show you all.
I know Kick would literally die! Which is not what I want
EDIT: Butt Filler???? - Snots33_77
Always loved the bernese, great dogs, They're very photogenic. Just watch the hips on some of them.
I've got a Newfoundland great pyrenees cross that just turned 3. He's 140lbs and is basically just a black pyrenees that looks like a black bear. Not as easy going as the bernese though. We have him for livestock watch to keep away coyotes. Extremely independent. He's good with people, just don't go near my kids without my wife or I around lol.

All coaches have a limited shelf life ... so far, players seem to like playing for St-Louis but who knows if that will still be the case in 2-3 years. |

They had to send KK to the AHL as well after a while.
Do it the right way. Don't ruin top prospects. What's the point? |

imho, Habs will make the playoffs when their core of young players (Guehle, Barron, Primeau, Caufield, Slafkovsky....) will be mature. so minimum 3 years. adding a big piece wouldn't make things go faster. kids need to learn, develop - fidopro
they will be able to add a big piece to the mix next year, too. the top 5 is loaded and it doesn't fall off much after that until into the 2nd round |

oh I 100% agree, they might not win a lot of games at first but they still need to be put in a context where they have a chance to learn and evolve. every player is different, so not all of them may require some time in the AHL. hopefully the player development will be much better under the new management team.

Indeed, we have 11 picks next year ... 2 in the first round and one in the second.
We should be able to grab some interesting players ... especially if we are among the bottom teams of the league again. |

I doubt that MSL's shelf life in MTL will only be 2 or 3 years, he looks like a guy who knows how to efficiently manage young hockey players, so they'll most likely stick with him for the whole team-building process.

Maybe he is a great guy / teammate, but just seems that wherever he is or whomever the coach is the perception is a negative attitude or he is not happy.
Seems like a lot of poop to deal with for a guy who is not even a star player.

I think MSL could be a really good coach for young players and development - he has certainly shown that in the few weeks he ran the team.
I am not sure MSL is (as of yet) a coach that has the ability to out-coach another team's coach or change/adjust the game plan on the fly to win when it matters.
Will be interesting to see.
Filling that assistant role with the right person is likely critical to his long term coaching career.

Funny, I get the exact same impression ... mind you I haven't followed his career closely.
I'd rather draft/develop our own centerman than having to deal with what looks like a self centered player ... Montreal would eat him alive if he didn't perform. |

good point, he may be a brilliant hockey mind but he's still lacking NHL experience as a coach, he said so himself last year that he felt everything was going really fast for him during a game lol... are there any rumors as to who the new assistant could be? |

Not heard a thing, but I tend to only read English hockey print/web media and that is fairly Toronto centric.... not much on things at this level, like a new assistant coach, for MTL.
But the usual MTL guys have been fairly quiet about it too (EE, Apron, Lu, etc...) have not had much to say. |

we'll probably hear about it a bit more as we get closer to the start of the season. or maybe they already have their guy and they'll make an announcement soon, out of the blue.
I wonder how Richardson will fair in Chicago, it's nice that he finally got a head coaching job but he sure has his work cut out for him lol

Yeah, he seemed like a good guy. I really like the work he did with Romanov and some of the D, that is gonna be missed I think.
Wonder if they can hire Robinson as a part-time development consultant to work with all these young D prospects in the system and the NHL level.
He has said he did not want to be a full-time staff coach, and I think he has a good thing going in STL too.... but who knows. |

Poor guy ... it's like sending a lamb to the slaughterhouse.
Tough first gig as a head coach ... he deserves better. |

Robinson could be a solid part-time option if he's interested, but I wouldn't mind if MSL and the habs management think outside the box and grabbed someone that had no prior relation whatsoever with the organization.
he isn't a defensive specialist but maybe they could bring in a guy like Benoit Groulx, who is currently coaching the Tampa bay farm team... MSL probably already knows him a bit. I think he'd be an interesting candidate, although they still would need to address the lack of NHL coaching experience.
