Robinson could be a solid part-time option if he's interested, but I wouldn't mind if MSL and the habs management think outside the box and grabbed someone that had no prior relation whatsoever with the organization.
he isn't a defensive specialist but maybe they could bring in a guy like Benoit Groulx, who is currently coaching the Tampa bay farm team... MSL probably already knows him a bit. I think he'd be an interesting candidate, although they still would need to address the lack of NHL coaching experience. - Pat1993
Yeah, I am not against any idea.
But I am more on the side of a veteran NHL coach/assistant coach that can also help MSL get to the next level of coaching in the NHL.... kind of a mentor-type relationship.
By all accounts, Groulx is a decent coach with an NHL future, but I am not sure he is the right fit. |

Poor guy ... it's like sending a lamb to the slaughterhouse.
Tough first gig as a head coach ... he deserves better. - Garfield512
that was also my impression, but then again it isn't like he'll be expected to win, so there won't be a whole lot of pressure on him. ideally for him it'll be an opportunity to get some head coaching experience until he gets fired, and then be hired by another team with more potential to work with.

no, the more I think about it the less it makes sense for the habs right now lol... would be nice though if the habs did snatch him from TB and gave him an assistant role, in addition to hiring a coach with actual NHL experience.

Bob Hartley? as head coach I would've said no but as an assistant it might make sense.

30 years of experience, won at every level, difficult to find a better mentor for MSL imo |

it's been 6 years now though that he hasn't been involved at all in the NHL, and coaching in the KHL must be a very different thing... but yeah I agree he wouldn't be a turrible choice to work alongside MSL. |

you know who else I think of? Michel Therrien. that guy was an ace to manage his bench during a game. could probably show a trick or two to MTL. |

I vote for Jean Perron ... he wouldn't be a good coach but his interviews and misquotes would be hilarious to watch.
Might make the tough season ahead more bearable. |

I agree with what you're saying, he does have a flair for reading the bench and making the right adjustments, but the coach recycling in MTL is kind of depressing... on the other hand I guess you can't ignore the idea just because he's already been coach for the habs twice loll |

no need to give him any actual responsibilities, just hire him as an ambassador, and send him as a representative once in a while to talk to the media instead of the staff or players, his "perronismes" would create the perfect diversion when the habs are in need of one. |

yeah I don't give a poop if he coached here before. Hartley was my 1st idea!
but if MSL is good to develop young players, he needs to improve in managing the bench, which is MT' forte. |

they could give Claude Julien and Alain Vigneault a call as well, so they could form the ultimate recycled coaching staff of all time. |
